Russian forces have attempted to encircle the city of Avdiivka, but the northern prong stalled after a few scuccesses while the south attack outright failed, prompting Russian forces to leave any gained ground that will be shortly recapture by Ukranian forces.
Apparently this encirclement was meant to be a show of force prior to a major offensive, but the failure further drove troop morale into the ground.

They won't for a long time yet but I feel we're reaching the point where Zelensky is going to have to concede that he's never going to reclaim all of the territory. The international support is something I expect to dwindle over the coming 12 months to the point they will struggle to hold their linesComment
