Actually I'm in Ireland. I do Business Studies and Japanese in Dublin City University. I'd imagine the pace and such would be quite similar in most decent Uni's. Anyway the workload is pretty damn heavy, we're expected to do about 3-4 hours of study\homework a night(for Japanese alone). Apart from the difficulty I really like the course, small class size, cool people with common interests, helpful lecturers etc. Anyway, since you're from the UK I realise this is absolutely no use to you,so I'll leave it at that. If you want to know anything else about the course though, just ask and I'll tell you. I will say this, since I imagine most Uni courses are the same, don't pick Japanese unless you're sure you're gonna have the time and commitment to spend several hours each day learning Kanji and grammer rules, my class has halved in size since the beginning of the year , and thats before tests\people failing or whatever. Not that I reckon a guy who calls himself "tokyochojin" would have any problems with commitment to learning Japanese, hehe.

Ah cheers, the only thing i am worried about is getting accepted onto the course. As i don't have Alevels or what ever, although my Japanese is 'so so'. Anyway if you have anymore questions mate just send us a pm.

When's the best time to go to see the sakura in bloom? Ideally avoiding the hot weather coz the idea of travelling in the heat ain't so appealing.

If you went to Roppongi you could get a bar job within 15 minutes. It all depends what you wan't from your trip. Serving loud mouthed gaijin and getting the pick of the J-chicks while living in an over crowded metropolis
            Well thats me sold tbh.

              I've got an important question!

Concerning bars and clubs and such, what's the minimum age, and do they want some sort of proof for your age?

So between what months are we talking?, Don't have the option of going right away.
I was thinking of sometime around august/october would that be too late?
What months are considered the heat peak in Japan?

Surely not man, July/August temps were in the 40s last year, combined with monstrous humidty it was the hottest, most uncomfortable weather I've ever experienced.
