Actually I'm in Ireland. I do Business Studies and Japanese in Dublin City University. I'd imagine the pace and such would be quite similar in most decent Uni's. Anyway the workload is pretty damn heavy, we're expected to do about 3-4 hours of study\homework a night(for Japanese alone). Apart from the difficulty I really like the course, small class size, cool people with common interests, helpful lecturers etc. Anyway, since you're from the UK I realise this is absolutely no use to you,so I'll leave it at that. If you want to know anything else about the course though, just ask and I'll tell you. I will say this, since I imagine most Uni courses are the same, don't pick Japanese unless you're sure you're gonna have the time and commitment to spend several hours each day learning Kanji and grammer rules, my class has halved in size since the beginning of the year , and thats before tests\people failing or whatever. Not that I reckon a guy who calls himself "tokyochojin" would have any problems with commitment to learning Japanese, hehe.
