Update on Keane from The Echo.

Keane is not as bad a purchase as Sheva. Shevchenko was a genuinely fantastic player so to get nothing out of him was a real shame. Keane did not **** our squad up for two years either!

Still 3 weeks without our best player though. But yeah, could have been worse I 'spose

No it doesn't get much worse than that, man u will be prob 7-9 points ahead of us by the time he returns especially if Torres gets rattled as easily as he did last night.

I'm thinking Rafa has something lined up for the summer striker-wise, whoever it is ( David Villa ) probably wouldn't be allowed to leave mid season so no more money was wasted until that can happen. Just my opinion.

Heskey looks like he would have been a steal now though if only for a temporary measure.

So Gerrard will probably miss the Real game

It's all started to go tits up since Xmas really we've got to ensure Pompey don't stop us taking three points on Saturday evening for starters.

Heskey was the player being lined up for the summer. Would be amazed if we could afford the ?30m+ Villa would probably cost. Hugo Almeida was linked briefly this window, someone like that is far more likely IMO.

Why all the doom and gloom of Gerrard being injured?

There is an international break in all of this so thats 1 week not to worry about. Pompey away, Man City at home and then Real Madrid are what come up 3 weeks after his injury.

I see no worries about the Real Madrid and the other two should be wins if everything goes to plan. Gerrard should be back for the second leg and the game against United.

Mainly because when Gerrard doesn't play 9/10 times we suck! We still have no strength in depth but when our 1st 11 are fit we can beat anybody. Besides, im hoping they haven't played it down for the media, 3 weeks for a hammy seems fairly short, fingers crossed.

Thought Babel didn't actually look too bad against Everton up top when he came on, obviously isolated but maybe he should get a chance there rather than on the wing.

Babel was the bright spot for Liverpool against Everton I reckon.

Lone striker up top and he did very well. I think maybe rest Torres today against Pompey because he definitely looks like he is still feeling something from those hamstring injuries.

If Babel can push on from that small performance and show he can fulfill the lone striker roll we could be in for a nice surprise. Babel has promised so much, he has to do something soon. Surely.

                              Portsmouth 1-0 Liverpool

                              David Nugent!

1 - 1, and ive learnt something, i had no idea the goalie couldnt handle from a backpass, always thought they couldnt pick it up! what a stupid goal to concede!
