Liverpool 2010/11 Season Thread

Blackpool were excellent, take nothing away from them. After they got the 2nd they played brilliantly and we couldn't get the ball of them.
Prime issue was the final ball, Kuyt & Merelies were poor there and it was our undoing. At around 60 minutes the game was for the taking.
I thought Poulsen had his best game for us tbh (not saying much granted) and was heartened by Torres who had some fantastic touches and if that volley had of gone in WOW.
It's purely confidence and composure, one breeds the other, play like that for the rest of the season and we should be fine.

Glenn Johnson to play right wing is being mooted for tomorrow's game. That is a very exciting prospect, he has all the ability to do such a job and Kelly has been superb at right back. That'd make an excellent right side of midfield, I reckon.

I dont know where it'd leave Kuyt, up top alongside Torres I suppose. Maybe even dropped with Cole, Lucas and Meireles as part of a 3 man central midfield. I wouldn't be against giving Poulsen another go either, he made a massive improvement against Blackpool compared to the rubbish earlier in the season.

A 3 man midfield needs a creative spark though. Meireles was supposed to do that on Wednesday I suspect but he was poor by his own standards.

I'm not gonna allow myself to get hopeful over tomorrow's result. The game is gonna be tight and fiery but I just hope that the team can create goals against a poor Everton team.

Any thoughts on Suarez rumours?

I hope it's true, think it could be a great move and in keeping with NESV mindset of youth and quality.

Would love him here. Rumour has that Babel would happily go the other way to Ajax as part of the deal.

I think that'd be a great signing for Liverpool if they can pull it off, I was hoping he'd end up at Spurs after we were linked with him during the summer. If you can get Torres fully motivated, him and Suarez up front could be a fearsome combo.

Looks like we've agreed a deal with Hoffenheim for the transfer of Babel.
There's only so long you can hope that a player will realise his potential before you cut your losses.

He is that rubbish though. He might suit Hoffenheim's system, they like fast and powerful types.

Luis Suarez would be an interesting signing. For me, though, sorting out defence is the most important thing right now. Skrtel and Kyrgiakos simply cannot work together, they are exactly the same kind of player. Agger is prone to injury and Carragher is getting old. Kelly seemed to be easily bullied by Anichebe at the weekend so he needs a while longer before he can revert to his favourite center back position. Which means another player is required really.

We're now seeing how valuable Masceharno was to this team. He patrolled and protected the back four as well as any holding midfielder in the world. I still regard him as the best in the world in that position. Shame he left in the way he did. I don't think you can easily relace a player of that calibre. As far as defenders are concerned, I expect Wilson to show what he can do in the months to come, whilst we also have Ayala who is very highly thought of. Both are centre backs. We can only hope they will both be given a chance, and will shine with experience.

Suarez would be a good signing. Torres needs help and someone of World Class calibre as well.

I agree. He has untapped talent that has gone wasted for too long now, and I don't think it's all his fault. For a good 75% of his LFC career he was either a sub, or played in positions we was not suited to, or both. The chances he'd get he'd either change the game, or be completely useless and frustrating. That will be his LFC legacy unfortunately.

I don't think I've seen a player hit a football as hard as Babel can. This is probably the most memorable one that went in:

Class goal that but he only ever showed glimpes, his preferred position was taken by Torres who not many could displace I'm afraid.

The amount of times I've screamed at him for poor touches or desicion making, I always wanted him to suceed but it just never happened.

Best thing for him and the club I think.
