He was a tit but I would love to hear what he said to get sent off as it seems a little odd when he went over to talk - not shout. That suggests a foul mouthed tirade - unless he said something in Spanish.
It is a retarded thing to do but as one of the teams that does not do it as much as others ( ut still more0 it is a little galling. If there is gonna be consistency then Rooney will be sent off every other game. As will Terry.

Keane only did the same as Mascherano did today who rightly got what he deserved as as Hoolak as already said the idiot was well out of control.

I don't support any Premiership team but I just watched the highlights on MOTD and felt compelled to write something.
The Torres booking which led to Mascherano being sent off was a complete joke. The protest that saw Mascherano sent off was ironically his least intimidating one.
What annoys me more than anything is that I just know that the referees will show no consistency in enforcing this new policy.

As I said in the Man Utd thread:
"Showing dissent by word or action
A player who is guilty of dissent by protesting (verbally or non-verbally) against a referee’s decision must be cautioned."
Taken from the laws of the game on the FA website.

Fair enough, Torres got booked for the above. However, I see dozens of similar instances every week that don't result in a booking. This is where the FA lets itself down, it has absolutely no consistency in its decision making.
If this game had taken place before the Cole incident then I have no doubts that it would have ended with 11 players on each team.

BTW, I'm not defending Mascherano at all, he deserved to go. But that Torres booking was a complete joke, if you book every player who says as little to the referee as Torres did then the game will become farcical.

Yeah thats fair enough, modernise the rules as they go and as long as it's done properly, there's no problem but this rule needs to be strict I think.
Players should respect the referee to begin with and they just don't nowadays! It's a joke, any decision that goes against teams and 6 or 7 guys just crowd the ref and try to pressure him into making decisions!
It's not on.

Being one for free speach, to be honest I think players should be alowed to say "oh F off..." and then walk away, but today Macherano was hasseling the ref from the first whistle, you could see the red card coming and he just looked like a fool, I felt pretty bad for him to be honest. Having said that I dont think it really effected the outcome of the game and I think you lot have a big enough squad to cover for him (lucas could even get to play a few games in a row if Benitez wants to make a point for instance), so there hasnt been that much harm done really.
