Nice spin from that site "there's no proof Gerrard did anything, nobody saw him do anything and before the incident, he was seen sawing a drowning puppy from a river". "it was all Marcus Mcgee, he went out searching for Gerrard, was clearly drunk and a thug and worst of all, HE WAS A MAN U SUPPORTER".
Has to be said though, Marcus Mcgee is an awesome name.

I've only seen the reports in The Times and The Independant, but both are reporting the incident in a pretty sympathetic fashion, which is a good indicator that any eye witnesses the press have spoken to have said there isn't much in it. Apparently Gerrard hasn't actually hit/touched the guy, if that's the case he'll probably get a small fine for affray.

If there are press at the court house you can expect plenty "Gerrard 'went mental' and 'walloped him' ", "Gerrard trial : 'he went to the loo 5 minutes before the incident' ", "Gerrard : 'I'm the goddamn batman'" headlines .
*edit*
One thing on that liverpool forum seems to be incorrect, I'm reading lots of forums saying the guy who was put in hospital was a liverpool fan.Last edited by abigsmurf; 30-12-2008, 10:48.

From the Echo.
"STEVEN Gerrard was charged with assault this morning after a nightclub brawl in Southport.
The 28-year-old Liverpool captain was held in police custody for 20 hours after the early-morning disturbance at The Lounge Inn.
Local businessman Marcus McGee lost a tooth and had stitches for cuts to his face.
Gerrard was out with friends celebrating Liverpool?s 5-1 defeat of Newcastle.
At around midnight last night police confirmed they had formally charged Gerrard with assault and affray.
John Doran, 29, of Woodlands Road, and Ian Gerard Smith, 19, of Hilary Avenue, both Huyton, also face assault and affray charges.
All three are due to appear before North Sefton magistrates in Southport on January 23.
Two men, aged 33 and 31 from Huyton, were released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Accrington Stanley FC winger Bobby Grant, 18, from Litherland, was also released on bail pending further inquiries.
Mr McKee is believed to be a regular customer at the Lounge Inn and had informal access to the music decks.
The ECHO can confirm a dispute broke out after a song request was turned down.
At some stage a bottle was smashed over the head or face of the 34-year-old victim, but not by Gerrard."

I take back some oif my comments about him being out idiotically if it was OKed by the club.
Smurfy, the summary was from a Liverpool fansite, what do you expect? Sorry if some of the items don't match with your fact filled forums. I am intrigued by the story as a whole as it does seem out of character.

Some classic misses by Keane today, genuinely laughable at times.
Only saw ITV highlights but Earle said Keane must have been annoyed to see Torres put away such an easy chance....Keane would have missed that today!!
We played a pretty strong team today - fitness levels seem ok but still a little surprised - guess we have a week 'til Stoke.
