I'm surprised nobody has mentioned on here. William Hill have suspended the book on Benitez leaving by the weekend. They reckon there was a deadline for him to sign and its passed. So basically he is out of the door.

Thats quite big news. Not for the fact they reckon he'll be out by the weekend but the fact there was a deadline that has passed. That clearly, in my mind anyway, shows Benitez is looking to quit in the summer. Of course it depends if the deadline is real and if it has passed. Bookies rarely do such things without some very reliable sources.

Lets hope the Americans get bought out so the new owners can sack Parry and get Benitez to stay.

Just before Henry went to Barca bookies stopped taking bets on him joining Liverpool. Rumors spread pretty quick in Liverpool I'm just crossing my fingers there is nothing in it, would be a disaster IMO.

Cruised through the game tonight, Real looked a bit of a nothing side really.

That's coz we made them look like a nothing team. Same happened when we went the San Siro last season.

I would pretty much agree with you entirely sharkskin-man but Benitez has refused to say he wants to stay after the match. Just that he wants to win every game as manager.

Twas an amazing performance tonight. Everyone pitched in excellently. Riera was the only poor performer on the night I think. He gave the ball away far too much. No use worrying about it though because Real were shut up

Beat Real Madrid away, draw with Man City at home.. Fooking Marvelous ain't it folks.

I think Real Madrid away suits our style much better though, so it's not that surprising.

Thought it was a very good performance last night; solid at the back as usual in Europe and although we didn't create a massive amount going forward, we took our chance when it came and got a crucial away goal. Only downside was Torres taking a knock, but hopefully he's OK. Good to see Stevie back as well, we need him for this run-in.

I hope the Benitez stuff is waffle, but I can't help thinking there is some truth in it. It always annoys me in these situations - he could easily just come out and 'I am staying at Liverpool' and put an end to all the speculation, but he's avoiding it, and that makes me think it's genuine.

Edit: OK, seems he has taken my advice

Parry off then? Perhaps Rafa is finally getting his way http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ol/7914358.stm

Looks like it, but the likely (and potentially big) downside of that is Hicks staying, no?

Brian Barwick has already been lined up for a job at the club, so expect him to take on some of Parry's duties.

I've nothing against Brian Barwick personally (though some on RAWK are quick to hold Steve McLaren against him), but I would've preferred someone of David Dein's calibre.

Well it seems he's coming in to perform a comunications role, which makes sense given his background in journalism/broadcasting.
I guess we'll get a bean-counter of some kind coming in as well. Hopefully the manager will take over the role Parry has with regards to the youth team setup and of course the allocation of the transfer budget (which I think is all Rafa wants, he doesn't want to run the club accounts, he just wants to be given a certain budget which he can then spend on who he wants).

Parry always came across as a decent guy who genuinely cared about the club, but basically he was an accountant who was given too much power to influence football matters at the club.

Well, that's the title over then, and makes the game against Man Utd a bit of an anti-climax. I said when Keane went we would be desperately short of striking options unless we brought someone in. Cost us big time

It was over when we drew away at Stoke, if we're honest.

Yep, we pissed it all away in the first six weeks of the year. Sad, but true. Man U are on cracking form, and have been for months, not always playing great stuff, but grinding out the wins. Which we're not. Annoying stuff. But could be worse, could be an Arsenal fan without much hope of CL action next year. Ouch.
