I reckon likely. It was reported by Liverpool that he wouldn't be risked for the Fiorentina game.

He's been playing well.

Masch has not been playing well imho. First few games, he looked tired, think he looks mentally drained too. I don't doubt that he will have the desire if called upon at the Bridge but he looks significantly weaker without Xabi to do the ball work and the solidity imho. Masch has tried expanding his passing and does try swinging the ball out wide every so often but, bless his cotton socks, he does look a little laboured doing it. Lucas has been a little more expansive in recent games and they could be a good pairing. Not sure Aquilani will give mch discipline to the midfield and will take him a while to rafatise his game meaning masch has to sit, which, contrary to popular opinion, he does not do naturally.
Kongster, weren't Nani and Anderson about £15-18m EACH? Comparing to a free (Voronin) and a £6m Brazilian int'l, I don't think we are too bad. Not sure this is good but our back up strikers cost £1.5m combined - that is just David N'Gog!Need strengthening.

You could play Babel or Kuyt upfront, no?Last edited by Kongster; 30-09-2009, 17:47.

For me Benitez has to go. Why does he stick with pointless players like Lucas and never start Benayoun? Also the constant signing of average spaniard and calling Reina the best keeper in the league sealed it for me.
Liverpool seem to be firmly back to negative football again, the same as under Houllier. I would love to see Gerrard pick up a league winners medal sometime but under Benitez it will simply never happen.

Problems exist at the moment but negative football is not one of them. Idividual mistakes are the real issue at the moment, Carra and Mash both making bad ones yesterday.
And Reina is boss.

I'm happy with Benitez, overjoyed in fact, only time will tell. We just need a little more depth. Only thing i don't like is his refusal to try anything other than zonal marking considering the amount of goals we concede from set pieces. If only to save me from listening to Andy Grey telling me he told us so everytime a corner or free kick goes in
