6 points behind 4th place... Could it be possible? Amazing how things change so quickly.

I know - the wonders of a football club board and manager who know what they're doing, eh?

            So back to those headlines

"Torres: I've made an awful mistake"

Absolutely delighted, trust my Chelsea loving boss not being in tomorrow.

So proud of the lads yet again, great shift from everyone, yet again. It's brilliant how Dalglish has turned the fans, the players, the whole belief around the club, completely around, in just the space of a few weeks. It makes me so angry to think about how Hodgson was going about his business and his deliberate negativity. Disgusting, really.

But forget that, and forget Torres. Just chuffed to bits with my club, simple really

I will say however - Invanovic was deliberately fouled by Johnson in the box late on, very stupid from him, and it should have been a penalty.

Anyone notice the lack of creativity elsewhere at Stamford Bridge? The Torres 'El Nino' banner, blatently copied and just recoloured, featured the Shankley Gates

                  Plastic flags

But don't forget - The players are average, not good enough to even finish mid-table, Hodgson needs more time, nobody will do any better with that squad, blah blah blah blah blah.

I said in the Prem League general thread at the start of the season that I thought Liverpool would still challenge for fourth place this season. Admittedly though I thought they'd be able to do that with Hodgeson as manager, but still, definitely thought people were underrating the squad.

We've still got a game in hand though so hopefully we can win that and get the gap between us and Pool back up to 9. Should be an interesting second half of the season though

Looking back on the past month and it seems Liverpool are going to keep improving. The result yesterday, while not fun to watch was a big one and well earned. In recent games they have been attacking a lot more and commiting more forward.
With a little cash to spend in the summer, a striker yet to return and they could do well next year.

I think Gerrard may end up becoming less influential as the next year or so goes on, certainly in an attacking sense. He is still top drawer but getting older and Liverpool need to build.

I know it is early days, but chatting about it at work today and Liverpool could be a top 4 contender next season. That could mean a definite 6 way battle for the champions league spots which makes very interesting viewing for neutrals like me.

                          Any thoughts?

If Carrol and Suarez hit it off, we keep all our key players and bring in at least one pacey wide player and a left back, I don't really see why the squad wouldn't be good enough for another bash at the title - not saying they'll win it or anything, but being in contention until near the end seems plausible enough (to me anyway).

A lot of 'ifs' of course and I think we must keep Kenny, Clarke & Sammy running things.

Anyone else bracing themselves for another top player loss in the summer?

Pepe was recently interviewed on Spanish radio alongside Torres whilst on international duty.
Pepe said: "I think it's hard for me to come back to Spain to play. I think my place is in England and right now that is with Liverpool.

"It's hard to see me returning to Spain. Barcelona and Madrid are the two teams you would aspire to in Spain and that's impossible.

"[At United] Van der Sar will hang up his gloves in the summer so of course they are looking. I can't do anything. I can't say anything logically as I have a contract with Liverpool.

"Of course one likes to fight for titles and be in a team that does that. We always fought to be in the Champions League and try to win the title. But unfortunately it hasn't been the case in the last couple of years.

"I won't lie, I want to play in the Champions League and challenge for titles.

"I would like to think that the departure of players does not mean that we are slipping. I think Liverpool will always be a big club but we have to be realistic and the reality is that right now we are not at the level of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea or Arsenal. That's the truth.

"Torres believed that Chelsea offered him a better chance to be successful. They offered him a better chance to fight for the Champions League or at least to make sure that he plays in it. They have a better chance of building a title-winning team. And right now, unfortunately, we can't offer that at Liverpool."
Whilst he doesn't he is going anywhere. He doesn't talk about honouring a current Liverpool contract.

Reina's departure has been marked on the cards for a while I reckon. Its a shame but for £20mil, believed to be his buyout, there should be a keeper out there the club can buy to at least fill some of the gap.

A chapter in Liverpool's history is ending and I think that means quite a few players will leave. Maxi is another I think will be sold on, he supposedly cant speak English so will be lost when quite a few of the Spanish speakers leave.
