However, this is where we'd need someone who watches both teams regularly. I would argue that Liverpool's chances would be 'better', for want of an appropriate word, as a ratio compare with West Brom's. I think the unusually high number of times they have hit the woodwork this year would suggest that too.

West Brom are set up in the typical Hodgson mould, which is perfectly fine for West Brom but would never suffice for a club that looks to win games rather than not get beat.
As you say, we would need someone who regularly watches both teams to decide, as many of those shots might well be long range shots well off target.

However, the greater pecentage of WBA's shots hitting the back of the net - 34 goals from 383 shots, as opposed to 30 from 427 from Liverpool, would suggest the opposite to me.

Ten wins for West Brom so far - the same number as Liverpool - doesn't really sound like a team looking to avoid defeat, as opposed to trying to win.

I'd be very interesting to know exactly how West Brom have performed this season. Being a Liverpool fan I've watched pretty much every game and would like to think I can apply a fair amount of even handedness when it comes to appraising their performances.

tomkinstimes reckons Liverpool have dominated 85% of games this season, they took into account possession, total shots and shots on target. I'm not privy to exactly how they calculated this as I'm not a subscriber so only get the little intros to most of the stuff. If this was applied to all teams I wonder what it'd show.

I will take your word for the 85% figure and, not being a Liverpool fan, stop disrupting the thread.

Can any justify or defend that result last night?
          Again, another shocking result.

Christ, I've had enough of this season, it's been so frustrating despite the cup win (which to be honest very lucky), and we need to strengthen in the summer. The Carroll purchase needs to admitted for the mistake it was and we need to move on. We could probably get around 10-15 million from Newcastle for him and put it towards a new striker (llorente?) and some reinforcements on the wing.

I watch Curling on Eurosport now instead. HD too

Assuming Newcastle want him back. With Cisse and Ba, they are sorted up front at the moment.

Ba will probably leave. Can't see Newcastle paying over 10m for anyone though. Hopefully Liverpool will be stuck with Carroll for a good while.

                    Cracker that.

People were mentioning about swap deal between him and Torres with Chelsea. Who do you think's been the bigger flop?

Very hard to call. I would probably edge towards Carroll because Torres at least runs himself into the ground every match but Carroll just looks like a lazy smug twat.

Carroll has been the bigger disappointment. He simply hasn't been able to adapt at all, at Newcastle with a system that suited him, he looked unbeatable at times. Torres has been equally as poor but his ability to adapt and his effort is definitely commendable.

Its very marginal as they've both been crap, but I think there is optimism Torres will start scoring again but with Carroll there isn't.

                            Kenny out?

Right, this has to be the poorest Liverpool team in premier league history. If someone says changes are needed nobody could argue with that. Disgusting.

Indeed. I'm pretty sure kenny will leave in the summer. Winning the league cup means he hasn't damaged his reputation.
