I think the shirt is pretty nice too, nice, simple and unadorned.

Gotta agree about the standard of the Setanta commentary though, bloody annoying. I do agree with their praise of Rooney though, he was very good today I though, involved in all our good stuff and bagged a couple of deserved goals.

Not the best display from Slovakia though (which, for Setanta, is apparently enough to brand them useless and slag them off every five minutes) but a 4-0 win is good any time.

It's a bizarre thing...

I was watching this every 10 minutes or so, when there was a tv break in ESPN's coverage of Pittsburgh v New York.

Every time I switched it on, I saw the following:

Rooney hit a TERRIBLE ball straight out to touch.
Downing pass infield, or backwards.

Judging by the Setanta commentary and some of you guys, Rooney had a great game; I must have co-incidentally seen his worst bits.
Did I similarly misjudge Downing, or did he do as I (sporadically) saw?

I like the main commentator on Setanta, John Champion, he's quite amusing and very honest about bad games/play. Don't like Chris Waddle as he's a bit bitter and a 'back in my day merchant' which is never desirable.

At least they swapped out their usual jock co-commentator for an England match, unlike sky who used to give us Andy Gray, Graham Sourness and any other non-English ex-players they could.

Downing is crap and thus met all expectations - will make me laugh when that useless lot up the road from us pay £15m for him.

I think where really strugling withour lack of world class strikers, id say Rooneys our only class striker maybe Gabby can change that once he hits top form his pace could really help us with rooney playing just off him. Its a shame as our midfield has to be one of the stongest in the world. Id hate to be capello and pick from
Beckham,Wallcott,Young,Lennon,Lampard,Gerard,Barry ,Carrick have to agree though downng is just awful cant belive totenham think hes worth 15mil

Downing isnt awful,. he has the ability to be an increadble player,. in the past few seasons hes completely torn apart the defence of both arsenal and liverpool single handedly. On his day he is probabaly one of the best left wingers in the world... BUT....

He just never seems to be anywhere as consitant as he should be, and often seems to come across as hes not even really trying.

Thats my point with him though any dog can have his day for example burnley in the carling cup, but to be valued at 15 million and be in the England team id expect him to produce week in week out. He has the ability but we hardly ever get to see what hes capable of.

couldnt agree more with both him and lennon on the other wing we would have some serious pace, just need to get lennon to get a few lessons from beckham on delivery.
