Settling for penalties, after conceding a 3-0 lead and being down to 10 men is hardly a criminal offence.

When England were 3-0 up, the betting odds were 1/250. Obv saying Sweden had no chance. Pretty poor to lose a 3-0 lead when you can play containing and attacking. They must of got it all wrong.

Heh, good old English mentality eh? Sadly I didnt get to watch the game, had family over, but it sounds to me like English players clammed up when it came down to the crunch and the Germans just did what seems to come naturally to them.

          Ah well

Keeper was gash on the 2nd goal. Cost us the game probably.

That and what was exposed to be an unbalanced squad through suspentions.

Don't think that cost us the game. We weren't going to score twice there whilst not letting in a Germany goal.

Until Walcott can deliver quality crosses or actually get around defenders, he's never going to be the quality player he's being hyped up as. He can run real fast but doesn't have the ability in other areas to take advantage of that.

A decent performance spoilt by crud errors from Duck Face and Mr Europe.

Beckham playing well, Rooney gone close a couple of times, and Heskey playing his role to decent effect. Shame the defence looks panic striken when Dutch forwards close them down.

                  Yiddo! Spurs bailing out England

Yes, Defoe's performance is very encouraging. Nice of Teddy Sheringham to award the Spurs, ex-Portsmouth, ex-West Ham player man of the match too.

Carlton Cole's performance was what really impressed me, some of his ball control was outstanding.

Johnson was bloody awful, once again showing that his defensive ability is nowhere near good enough.

Teddy Sheringham makes me feel a bit weird when I watch him. He always talks to the camera instead of to his right where the host is, it feels very peculiar.

So the big talking point of the night, then: just why is Carlton Cole so wet?

England deserved the win there. They made 2 errors, but I would blame that on the fact they haven't really played that much games yet. Those are quite rare on these levels. Our competition is already 2 rounds underway.

We had no answer on a strong player like Carlton Cole and a quick guy like Defoe around him. Basically, if you lay the pressure on Holland... you have a big chance to win as our defense is less than stellar (slow guys like Ooijer, and small guys like Mathijsen). But not alot of teams do that.

Babel can only run, Schaars sucked, Huntelaar and Sneijder.. well.. not good. Robben is still egocentric (should've given to Dirk to seal the win)... De Jong and Kuijt are strong, Braafheid did a good job too. Rafael and Van Persie probably also.

I missed the second half of this, i.e., the goals, because Who do you think you are was on, with Kim Cattrall coming up our way, and the missus called the shots in this situation.

So was Duck Face a Duck egg all game?

I've always been a big fan of Teddy Sheringham even when he jumped the good ship Spurs to go to some northern team I have to admit I still looked forward to seeing him play especialy alongside O.G.Solskaer. How I wished that combo was playing for Spurs and not that other team :-P

But as a pundit now - not so sure. He makes some good intelligent, insightful comments but on camera he doesn't appear that comfortable. He'll probably improve in time.

Funniest thing yesterday was watching the earlier Norway v. Scotland on the BBC. Who on earth was that Scottish guy in the pair doing the commentary? I just about understood most of what he was saying but the problem was it was mostly crap. Scotland were getting slaughtered and at one point he seemed more concerned about their loss against Macedonia than the drubbing they were getting in front of his eyes.

Was it intelligent when he mistook Glen Johnsson for Rooney? Can definitely see how they'd be easy to mix up! Proper LOL moment for me that.

Anyway, Beckham was outstanding in my view, as was Defoe's two goals. Encouraging performance all round really, all apart from the defensive players.
