4th place is imperative, the absolute minimum. Failing that, there'll be casualties...

Still I'm sure Ancelotti will make big changes for the champions league and 4th place fight.
He may even make 2 subs at 70 minutes next game!
*edit*
This season's a write off now. No way we're good enough for champions League.
Only thing to play for for is the champions league spot.Last edited by abigsmurf; 19-02-2011, 14:19.

Anelkas penalty pretty much summed up Chelsea of recent months.
Every game now we get cast iron penalty shouts not given. Liverpool, Fulham (who themselves got a dive given as a penalty) and yesterday all had poor decisions. To compound it yesterday, Ramieres got a stupidly yellow where as Everton got away with a dive that was comical without any punishment.
Games like yesterday are frustrating because I it's bad enough losing but it's worse losing to teams that play such negative football. The first half, Everton played kicking lumps out of players. Early on in the second half, they get a few yellow cards and they can't kick players any more. Chelsea then dominated right up until Everton got a goal from their only decent chance past half time.
Chelsea are poor at the moment and there's no excuse for their performances but a lot of teams are still getting better results from us than they deserve.

Good performance, nice fluid football, entertaining to watch.
Anelka and Torres work well together, hope Drogba doesn't start against Man U. Stifled our attack when he came on, not sure he had a single good touch.
With Spurs losing, it's been a good night of football for us.Last edited by abigsmurf; 22-02-2011, 20:53.

Apparently they havent played many games over the last 3 months, which would explain why they looked a bit rusty (to put it mildly).

Copenhagen played the wrong kind of football. They were expecting to play against someone cagey and defensive (like 95% of teams do away in the Champions league) and instead played against a team thirsting for a game where there weren't 8 men in the box for most of the game.
Copenhagen were playing fast counterattacking football as well and they had 4 or 5 breaks that could've easily ended in a goal had that useless diving striker they had not kicked it straight at Cech every time.
Anyhow, I fully expected after that game for all the talk not to be about the attractive, fast paced football by Chelsea but instead to try and diminish the outcome by criticising Copenhagen.

Jesus christ, I try to take an interest in every team's thread on this forum. However, every single time I come here recently its you, smurf, howling about the media hatred of Chelsea. How boring.
What about the poor football in recent weeks? The aging squad? The seemingly rigid tactical outlook from Ancelotti that teams have worked out?

It is? I read a couple of reports that said Chelsea did well.
But, the calibre of the opponents wasn't the best in the Champions League. Seeing how they weren't beaten at home in the CL till now I think it can be fairly said Chelsea played well though. Nothing special but not rubbish.
The most important thing is Chelsea stop Spurs getting 4th spot.

Obviously Ashley thought he was becoming too popular, what with winning that England fans player of the year award, so he decided to do something about it:

Have trouble believing much of any story sourced from notw.
Stupid not to check it was loaded but other than that, it's not anything more than an accident. The kid's almost certainly going to do well financially out of it.
Contains all the usual hyperbole: the wound was weeping 2 days later!!!! (as most wounds do if scabs get knocked off or you stretch the wound) Cole could be arrested on ABH charges!!!! (only if it was deliberate) Deeply worried Chelsea officials!!! (deeply worried lawyers).
