?14M and ?80k a week seems a hell of a lot of money for him (at his age), but as someone at work said if he keeps them up for a couple of seasons it's money well spent.

Defoe for Altidore is a fair swap, said no-one ever.
He cannot fail to be less chod.

I think the fee and wages have been mixed up in quite a few reports. It's his wages of ?80k per week over the whole three and a half years of his contract that come ?14.5 million, but I think the actual transfer fee is only ?3 million.

He's bound to score against us tomorrow. Better put some money on it, won't mind if I lose it, and some compensation if he does score!

Ah maybe you're right with the money, sounds more realistic. He is eligible to play tomorrow, probably come on as a sub.

I've a feeling that Defoe might struggle. We create a tad less than sweet-FA from midfield, so his service will be woeful.

A little bit of reading for office time wasting: charts showing which cities the best selling (from Sports Direct only) Premier League shirts were bought in.

Interesting link thanks, no real surprises I guess.

Wonder how true the rumour is that Adidas would pay half of Messi's transfer fee just to get him in an Adidas shirt at Chelsea.

Nowhere relevant to post this, so here it goes, a cracking 40 yeard goal a couple of seconds after kick off

Harry Redknapp resigns from managerial position at QPR

I'm betting his knee started hurting a lot more once they didn't sign anyone in January

With Ramsey and Ferdinand in caretaker charge I expect Sherwood to be installed as the bookies favourite to take over.

I was almost surprised when I heard he'd been sacked. He's held on for so long I thought he must have some incriminating photos of Randy Learner or something!

Do you have anyone in mind you'd like to take over or is it a case of anyone other than Lambert?

A dildo rolled in glitter would do a better job tbh...I'd like Howe from Bournemouth or even Steve McLaren. But they are likely to pass us going up when we go down.

We will end up with some div like Warnock knowing our clownlike board.

Stay the **** away from Howe! [emoji1]

In all honesty he wouldn't touch Villa. The club seems a mess.

All Villa are worried about is staying up in honesty so they'll just someone in who can do that.

Scoring 12 PL goals from 25 games is a record not to be proud of, and frankly awful reflection on their so called strike force.
20 goals scored in a season is the lowest ever if anyone is interested, back when Derby had that terrible year.
illa could still beat that record.

How about Mark Warburton from Brentford? Doing an excellent job there but there was a story in the past few days that the Brentford board were scouting replacements for him EVEN if they go up and he gets them back to back promotions

So if he feels he hasn't got the proper backing of the board he might be tempted to swap a promotion battle for a relegation battle. He'd also be fairly cheap, I expect, which would appeal to Randy Lerner. Hmm, 33/1, might put a fiver on that.

                                ----

QPR have sorted out their new manager: Chris Ramsey will stay in charge until the end of the season.

                                ----

And Villa have gone for Tim Sherwood.
