    Why the scepticism?
because in the meanwhile i've seen at least a hundret of in game pictures taken from GT4 race cars driving at night with lots of fire from exhausts but no sign of glowing brake discs. strange, isn't it?

i played a lot GT and GT2 on my PSX but i can't remember this being in the game. what i know is that it's in "24H Les Mans" (DC) and the replays of the races at night were truly stunning!

Well it's most definitely in Prologue, cos I made an arse out of myself when I spotted it by commenting on the SL-55 having 4 wheel brakes (...duh... like all cars). And there are no night time tracks in Prologue.

Have there been any improvements/changes to the car setup interface?

There are a few more parts: supercharger and nitrous. The biggest change is that you can have different tyres on the front and back, so an FR car can have slightly softer front tyres as they don't wear as quickly as the rears.

Er, GT3 let you have different tyres on front and back.

Finally I have managed to play GT4. I originally ordered a Japanese PS2 from Yes-Asia. On the 13th they cancelled it saying they couldn't get one from their supplier. I promptly ordered an Asuian one. Confirmation of shipment arrived by email on Wednesday and it was delivered yesterday!!! Not the cheapest importer but at least I was guaranteed there would be no VAT or duty.

I think my favourite track is El Kapitan.

I am still struggling on the last few S licenses (14-16). I did import from GT3 and GT4P. The money was useful. First purchase was a very reasonably priced Lancer EVO VI RS. The two imported licenses just said passed so I have subsequently got bronzes for them to obtain the cars.

Bassman - does the GT4 that comes in the racing pack actually have the book etc, and the delux packaging?

                Comment

Dunno if it is worth mentioning but for those that don't have dosh to import, you don't actually need to buy a car if you complete all of the licenses. The cars won in prizes will see you through a fair few events before you really get into having to buy a car.

i've managed to get just above 20% now....been using all the cars i've won so far to race in the individual manufacturers championships.
its quite a good way to get around spending too much money.

but occaisionally its choice of car you get for winning is pretty weird. today i completed the 10 race japanese gto championship using a nissan 350Z (i think?) i won earlier, it took quite a while, and was easily the hardest races i've been in so far, and what did i win for my trouble?....the exact same car in a different colour luck of the draw i guess.

i was wrong earlier about the cappuccino not being upgradeable too, i didnt realise you have to get suzuki to do it instead of one of the tune-up centers.
so now i've done all the beginner bits excpet the sport truck section, which i dont really want to bother with. not really sure what to buy for that,
i need to see what i can get which might be usefull for more than just that one section.

really loving it overall though, cant stop playing

Well that would have been handy to know before spending 100s of hours playing it

I just had a quick look at GT3 and yes, there it is staring at me, front/rear tyre selection. What a fool I am!

On a completely different note, I've turned music off in game, so I only get it in replays. I did a free run in a nissan cube, (I think), and then chose to watch the awesome replay. I got a dude speaking over what I think is old GT3 music. Very weird indeed.

Edited rather than new post. Get a load of this bad boy...

                        Quality car.

Amusing about the tyres though... it's an option I don't take advantage of. What're forums for, if not to show you that you think you know a game...

BTW, how can you tell how many hours you've done? GT3 just has the stupid days thing which I don't understand. Can you equate it to hours?

Also is B-Spec mode available straight away?

                          Comment

I can't remember seeing an hours counter, but it could just be me. It still has days and they go up every time you do something. Even photo mode takes a day. The 2nd hand car markets are linked to the game date and apparently some special cars appear between days 694 and 701 and cost 800M or so. I've been b-speccing and I'm up to 700M ish. Once I have tons of cash I can get on with the rest of the game, not worrying about the 'day'.

B-Spec mode is in from the beginning, although it's best used on the endurance races which aren't unlocked until you've done 25% or so.

One cool feature, (that I didn't remember from GT3 ), is that you can reset races and series and then re-win the car. You can do this on a race/series basis, so the others stay done. Although thinking about it, did you re-win the car in GT3 anyway if you re-won a series??

Yeah you did, razu. Often useful when you were given a lottery draw of four at the end, for example.
