    Special Condition here I come!

FEI, I couldn't import licenses (PAL copy of GT3) so I did all of them straight off, one after the other. The very last S test, the Nurburgring lap, was brilliant. So don't worry about licenses, I have 'em all.

Any recommendations as for a car for the German TCC?

You can't in the Japanese one. Not sure if you can take licenses from prologue. But all u get from GT3 Japanese is a bit of cash.

The second Special Condition series of single races (the Capri Rally) at Costa di Amalfi is useful for about 275,000. You can do this without having done anything else in the game. Any decent car with over 250 HP should win the two 2-lap races without too much difficulty. I have used a second hand Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IV GSR with an oil change to win this. Winnings are 5,000 a race. The prize car, a Toyota RSC Rally Raid car, can be sold for 265,624. Not bad for 10 minutes work. Repeat the series as necessary. Click on one of the races and it will ask if you want to reset the races. Confirm this and it will clear the trophies and you can run the series again for the prize car.

With the same two licenses you can go to the European Hall and run the German Touring Cars Championship in B-spec (Director) mode which wins you the Mercedes CLK-GTR worth 740,000 or so. Plus of course the money for the races which is 15,000 each and 75,000 for the championship. There are five races but if you are far enough ahead you can apparently skip the last race and still get the prize car. It should take about 20 minutes in B-spec mode, provided you speed up the race on the Director's screen (hold L1 and click right on the D-pad until the 3 times speed appears). Make sure your car has a good power advantage over the other cars to give the B-spec "driver" a chance. Preferable B-spec setting would be 3 with overtake set to "on". You may want to set this to 4 initially to get the B-spec driver into the lead. You can repeat a championship for the prize car again. There is no prompting about a reset, unlike a series of single races. If you want to run this yourself you will need your IA license.
Which car do you run in the German TCC Bassman?

I found that first tip (Capri Rally) just by racing - a nice surprise it was too. I'm about 19% in and have been concentrating on the Beginner, Pro and Japanese events so far. Some of the cars I've won are amazing considering I'm only 1/5th of the way through. So far the Cadillac Cien is by far the top car on performance... tuned to f*ck it corners like a dream at insane speeds being an MR. Hopefully there are more to come

My B-Spec driver seems rather odd. Even if I put him on 4 and overtake he seems to only overtake on straights even when in a car that clearly outclasses the opposition. Putting in him on 5 only makes him smack into walls and spin out.

Wait... do you mean there is another Nurbugring license test? I don't know how many times I had to do that pace car lap in IA (I think it was). 9+ minutes on the clock... this corner looks easy, give it some... oh christ! I'm on the grass AGAIN

Japanese and UK versions of GT4 require Prologue for the licenses and GT3 for the money. As there was no American release for Prologue they let the American GT3 give licenses and money (if they were there).

I used a fully tuned Audi A4 touring car for the DTM races. B-psec got me a win even the first time out. THe only way to win at Opera Paris is to qualify on pole (I was able to do that after getting the license). Run "Practice" to qualify.

I completed all the licenses on the American version at the weekend, even the ones imported from GT3, so I would get the cars.

As for the IA license at the 'Ring. Keep a look at the Pace Car and try to push him (without hitting him of course). Brake where he brakes and it ought not be too difficult. Make sure you go to the 'Ring to practice. Even a slow car will help you to learn the track. I have lost count of the number of laps I did on the Japanese version. but the end result was that I passed the S16 (no pace car) lap in the Mercedes 190E Evo II Touring Car at the first attempt posting a time of about 7:30. This was a lot easier than the Japanese version where you have to be below 6:43 in the Mercedes Sauber C9 Le Mans car.

Yeah I know! I did the pace car on the third attempt. Came off at the same corner 6 1/2 minutes through twice. I almost hit myself in frustration!

Nurburgring lap is the last test of the S license. I did it first time, thankfully.

That test seemed quite easy for me, I did it first time and got a silver, which was nice . In fact I'd say the licences in this version are far easier to aquire than in any of the previous games in the series.

I love this game however it should come with some kind of health warning as it's too bloody addictive! Everything just seems right, it is easily the most accomplished racing game I've ever played and IMO surpasses even the first game of the series.

Today I did my IB, IA and S licences and completed a good few of the rally events and I'm still only at 8%, there's so many things to do it's gobsmacking! On a side note, does anyone know if you get any extra cars for getting all golds on the licences, like in the old games?

Cheers for that. It's a nice way to make cash In the end, I went for the Abt Audi TT-R since I had the extra 100,000 and figured it must be at least a little better. Turns out with only a Stage 4 Turbo added it'll win every one of those races for me, even the Paris one, without qualifying. I just stick 'him' on 4 and overtake and he wins it every time by a distance.

BTW do you know what is the absolute worst car in here? Me and my bro were wondering and I managed to find a 17 BHP old Citroen which is pretty awful. My garage is gonna be full of the top cars but I want an absolute stinker in there aswell for kicks

Is the Midget Mark II in there? It was in GT2 I think and it was a crappy little thing. It was a Diatsun or something like that.

                      Just found this:

                      evo magazine:

"The effort clearly paid off, for in a typically exhaustive validation exercise, a test driver with 15 years' experience drove an R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R around the real circuit and GT4's Nordschleife recreation, and acieved lap times (8mins 15sec) that varied by just 1 per cent. He also commented that the GT4 Skyline and circuit were so realistic he could experiment with driving techniques that would be too dangerious to risk in real life."

Licenses... You get a car for all bronzes, another car for all silvers and a third car for all golds.

The Midget is a Daihatsu and is slow. The two old 1896 machines are the slowest (just over 20 Km/h/12mph top speed) and can only be driven on a track with no hills (they get stuck at the bottom of hills, even slight inclines).

I think the 2CV may be the slowest normal car. The Ford Model T (Golds on S license) is not too bad but is probably no faster. I saw 100 km/h (60 mph) on the 'Ring with the Model T though it did get down to 20 km/h (12mph) once. The lap took over 16 minutes!!

As for buying cars you have room for every car in the PAL (and American) game which is 722 and still some space for 278 duplicates!! Though you don't need all 722 to make them appear in the Arcade. There are probably less than 500 that you need to buy or win, to get all the cars to appear in the Arcade.

I must read that Evo article (I bought the magazine on Saturday).

If you have a second memory card and want a duplicate car they will be slightly cheaper as a trade fron the second card if they have been driven. Unfortunately you do not get any upgrade parts that have been fitted to the cars (unlike previous GT games).

not read all 10 pages of this topic, read a few, take it there is nothing "ground breaking" I need to know before tackling the Ring etc

Be prepared for some learning with the 'Ring. If you have PGR2 on the Xbox you can basically forget that as it won't help that much.
