Bought it 2 weeks ago, but didn't have the time to play until yesterday. So far, 6 colossus have been defeated, so I don't know the surprises still awaiting, but Thursday, 03/02/06, will be remembered as the day I had a gaming moment like few others before, when I realised how to reach the 5th colossus, the phoenix-like one.

Ochh, it doesnt let me pray in front of the defeating colossi after starting Hard mode and saving over my previous complete game!!
Just need to go through it all again!
I tried grabbing onto the doves in the temple but only managed it for a few seconds before they dropped to the ground. How else can you do it?
Sometimes when riding Agro, a hawk or eagle or something flies above you, is it possible to jump off and grab on to that one?

Has anyone seen the metro today? There's an ad on page 21 for 'a colossal challenge' It doesn't say much but here's what's there -
"Become the hero this sunday in the ultimate gaming experience at the Design Museum, sunday 6-9pm"
I can't find any other mention of this though even on the design museum website - but the museum itself is in London. But since it sounded very intriguing I thought I'd mention it as someone may be interested.Last edited by shuzo; 03-03-2006, 19:29.

I've had this game for bloody months and have never bothered with the lizards.
Looking for some today, I only managed to find white bellied ones (with black backs).
I didn't notice any real development of my life bar after eating several tails. I know someone mentioned that there are two types of lizard. I gather I'm eating the wrong ones.
A little help?

Sorry for being slow, But I finally got round to completing this tonight (Friday) - I thought this was a fantastic game. But
the Last Colossus was absolute **** (What an anti-climax), some of the previous battles were truly amazing, and the last bloody one took about twenty minutes to climb the thing, then I kept falling off trying to jump onto the second hand after stabbing his shoulder to try and get on his head, which was so frustrating having to climb all the way up again for the umpteenth time, I was ready for putting my foot through my TV.
I got there in the end though, now to Hard Mode and Time Trialling, the mighty beasts.

Those of you who chose to go, let us know what it was like.

last colossi. The art design was superb (I'm partial to rainy/stormy clouds), there was a nice change of atmosphere with a more tension-laden song, and as PeteJ said a while ago in this thread, it felt closer to what was originally implied during the project's announcement (i.e. colossi acting as entire levels rather than just puzzles). The views on top of the head were awesome (for example, if you do a full stab, and get a short stab in while colossi sixteen shakes his head, the camera zooms in really close... which together with the motion blur spinning around, makes you get a real vertigo-induced view of the entire environment.

Yeah Miguel you miserable get, what you on about? The end boss of the game was worthy of being the final colossus and I agree with everything Concept said.
You`re fortunate that it only took you 20 minutes to get up there. It took me about 40 minutes to work out how to get on his shoulder and I too wanted to smash things to pieces. To be honest though mate, I think you`ll enjoy the game more on hard mode and also fighting colossus 16.
When you`ve played him a few times it removes a lot of the frustration because you know what the craic is. I was frustrated with falling off and dangling for what seemed an age trying to climb on his hands, but I really enjoy fighting him now and the whole battle only takes 5 mins even on hard.
I found out whilst playing hard mode that on colossus 16
you can get from his left hand onto his chest armour very easily, cutting out the need to make it to the right hand and fire the arrow into his shoulder.
The SotC challange thing sounds really interesting but why is it that these things always happen in dat der London? It really annoys me!
Also one other thing, it seems that most people have now finished the game and have had a go at the time trials, I thought that it`d be a good idea to get some friendly competition going and have a time trial thread. I`ll start it and update it if I have your support. If nobody bothers to post their interest I won`t bother.
I only need to get into the garden now and that is the entire game really done and dusted. If we have a little competition it might keep intrest in the game going a little longer.Last edited by Harman; 04-03-2006, 07:43.

Finally got round to playing this today! Well the controls not bad, camera pretty awful, graphics straight out of a Psone game, sound passable, but man...this is GREAT stuff!
Don't know why but I just can't tear myself away! - the frame rate judders like a porn star on a washing machine, but its got that special 'something' where I just want to play. Ace.3DS FC (updated 2015): 0447-8108-3129

Graphics straight out of a PSone game ... then you must be playing some sort of very special faggot version of Shadow of the Colossus, because the game I played had some of the artistically and technically most impressive graphics ever produced, at the very least on the PS2.
It's a real shame this game came out in 2006 over here. That means it'll inevitably be trampled by the mediocre x360 and PS3 launch games, and 2006 will be remembered for badly modelled plasticene characters lurching around in overly elaborate fields of rigid grass, rather than the year that brought us the most beautiful and organic surroundings ever in Shadow of the Colossus.
Anyone got sales on this? I know it sold approximately 200 000 copies in Japan over the course of three weeks. What about the US and EU territories?
