I only started playing this on the 23rd due to lack of a bonny 360, but I have to say this is the shoddiest game I've played in a while. Everything about it feels rushed, cynical, amateurish and asinine. Going from Condemned or PGR3 to this was like walking out of a swish restaurant to go and rough it with the chavs in McDonalds, and getting a Big Mac with a huge skanky thumbprint in the bun. And the bun wasn't v-synced.
Traded it in already.

I am unsure what to think of this game...still!!!!The live play is superb, but the single player has yet to grip me really, I think the main problem is that the levels are so damn confusing, I'd be lost without those damn lines that pop up.Still I'm willing to keep on persevering with it just a little longer, if only because I love the co op mode so much.

Got all the way up to Jungle|Storm yesterday on Perfect Agent although for some reason it didn't record any of my progress when I returned to the title screen, at the mission select everything is still on 1 gold star.I thought maybe it was because I wasn't using the default weapons for the missions although I'm getting away with that now, which I shouldn't TBH - as it's more or less cheating and getting away with it (if you regard how strict GE/PD64 was).
Started again - now I'm up to Mansion|Infiltration, it's nails this time for some reason eventhough I cracked it on my first go before (Including the battle with Mai Hem) - must have been luck as everytime I try and request radio silence I get noticed, decided not to bother in the end and just started windmilling-in instead which has taken 10 times longer although boosted my skill 100 fold.
Pretty easy to be honest, nothing compared to PD64 PA. Hopefully Dark Agent will turn out to be a challenge. Some really nice levels (Subway, Rooftops, Mansion) some ****e levels (Jungle, Temple, Lab). The game is 100x better on PA though, there seems to be less glitches which is weird, either that or I'm becoming more forgiving as I've played it that much now.
Has anyone else noticed a bug with the music on Laboratory|Rescue? The transition between stealth and action is borked (doesn't fade, just cuts in), then it goes silent.
-------------
All in all, pretty shoddy of Rare to let this go at what seems to be a 60% complete level compared to the original. Cheers M$. So far I give it 6/10.
Multiplayer is almost spot-on, I haven't played in a while as NTL has died on me which is just ace. Looking forward to popping some heads when it's back up. 8/10.
Had a bash on good old PD64 the other day. It's still bang on. It'd be ace if they made PDZ for the N64, with proper cut down GFX like, just to compare - It wouldn't even be worthy of 1/10 probably. They should have just ported PD64 over to the 360 with the Dark Bonds missions from PDZ as the Zero Missions before the remade PD64 missions starting with Mission 1 - dataDyne: Defection. Less work, less hassle with **** levels, more time to spend working on multi and ragdoll, more people appreciating my favourite game ever..

Here's my strat...
Start the mission, run up the slope into the arch and survey the guard pattern. Drop one or two (using head 'double-taps', to break the helmet then the skull 8) ), making sure to keep an eye on the bridge to the left as you don't want any baddies spotting their dead mates. Take out the bridge dude then the sniper in the tower behind him with the P9P (my guns for this are usually P9P,Frag,RCP-90) take out the sniper in the tower to the right, then the ones all the way back where there are two, select the RCP and activate threat detector to spot and nullify any ground threat. After the courtyard is clear head over to the left of the fortress and go up into the archway where the snowy stairs are. From halfway down the stairs before being spotted throw a frag grenade up, over and down into the adjacent stairway where there are three guards waiting (might take a couple of trys) then bring out the RCP and go absolutely ****ing nuts with it as you won't need it again, PROPER KICK-OFF!! pick up the armour, then activate the panel at the far end, than make your way back to activate the sat (this lets BangraSandra hack the DM with Mai Hem giving you more weapons). After the action take out the camera and try your luck with the voice panel. Make your way through and then bring out the audio-scope and target one of the talking ladies in order to copy her voice, I've had mission failure here a few times for absolutely no reason so be careful as it's a bit fragile. Everything is dead easy until you reach Mai Hem (**** name). Keep her pinned with the MagSec, shoot her statue mates in the face a few times keeping distance, then when her holograms appear they drop super-dragons which make any difficult situation a walk in the park. Don't forget to fire grenades all over the place with RB.

I got this game for Christmas and am really enjoying it so far.
I'm only playing on Agent mind you, but I still realy like the variety of the missions etc!
I too would be lost sometimes without the guiding lines - I'm sorta stuck on a mission at the momemnt actually - I have to
Plant a bug on some power source (in some ruins). I get all the way to the but where I have to bug it using the cam spy thing, and I have no idea what I am doing? The lifting gear gets all the way down and it's game over for me?!
Any Tips?
Also, regarding the cut scenes, at first everything seemed fine, but I noticed some of the later ones look just a touch out of synch for me? Has anyone else noticed this? The game itself is fine, just the latter cut scenes seem to be effected - but then not always - it might start off bad, but then be ok etc?
I'm running in PAL 60 BTW
Cheers

Read this for help on your Mission
!!!
As soon as you put the CAM spy down turn right and follow the wall to your right, it will force you to turn left then follow it to the end and turn left again. Half way down this corridor you will be able to turn left across a bridge and u will see a computer screen, head in front of that and u will complete the level and get ready for the boss!
!!!
Ive not noticed any lag on mine and im playin at pal 60, but im using mine throught surround sound via the optical output on the back of the video cable, if that could make any difference.

Started playing this when I got my 'Box after Christmas. I am enjoying it although I do get frustrated by the varying difficulty levels. In some levels you can get to a certain point in the level then it might take you another 3 goes to get to the same point because the enemies have suddenly all become crackshots or throw frag grenades at an entrance perfectly timed for when you are about to walk through. This was paticularly the case with the Jungle mission.
As has been mentioned the level design seems very poor, depite how good anyone might claim to be, most of the levels seem to be set-up with the intention that you have to die first before you can know what to do.
The AI seems particularly bizarre, on the mission where you have to kill the 'phantoms' I got lamped a few times as I tried to fight them directly but on one go I just took cover in a particular spot and they just lined up to be shot.
I'm up to the mission now where you have to rescue the Carrington agents then do some other stuff. I don't know if I'll replay on Perfect Agent when I finish Secret Agent (that I'm currently playing on) but I'm looking forward to getting Live and having some online shennanigans.
I hope they do a PD2 on the 360 but set it further in the future, I love the more futuristic kit in Zero.

PD0 represents my biggest gaming disappointment for many years.
I was a massive fan of the original, and I have been bitterly disappointed with the job Rare have done with this game. My problems with the game -
- Flawed Level Design - I love challenging games, but I find too many instances of the game being frustrating to play and you failing the mission because of poor design on Rare's part rather than the player not showing enough skills. One example, battling against the ship on the rooftop level springs to mind. What is the point of getting the player to pump a zillion bullets in the engines of that ship, and then running out of ammo and then nearly falling asleep by the time you have destroyed the ship?
- Disappointing graphics - especially considering the job Bizarre did with Gotham.
- awful/uninspired quasi-Thunderbirds character design
- diabolical voice acting (the original game had poor voice-acting, but it wasn't as annoying as this game's)
- Terrible music - apart from the nightclub level
The whole feel of the game is just 'wrong' and it just doesn't feel like a sequel to the original. The only levels I mildly liked were the loboratory and jungle levels.

It feels like it's some sort of fan made sequel using a 2 year old game engine. Then they had the nerve to have in-game jokes pointing back to the original, this game doesn't even deserve to have the originals name, let alone make jokes about its 'alien' theme, and the art style? jeez - i really hope the designers and artists responsible are in a job centre somewhere rather than planning their next insult to the games buying public.
For me, rare have not so much gone down hill - but steamed down it, rolled up the one next to it with its momentum and went back down again and is now somewhere at the bottom of the atlantic ocean getting poo'd on by the fish with the funny lanterns attached to there heads.
Oh well, the stampers are friggin loaded - so whats the point in them making great games eh? :PLast edited by Pirotic; 04-01-2006, 19:06.
