I swear the 5200 does have Pixel and Vertex Shaders o.o It was the 4MX that didn't.

If I'm talking crap, ignore me...

Where's isamu? We had to listen to him hype up the PC version all year... PC game is out, and he ain't here!

I was wondering that same thing.

Pad wise - it should take all the inputs from the controller you have defined, but I'm not sure if you also have to define the menu controls somewhere in the list.

I've updated my video and audio drivers to the latest and greatest now, but the sound problem persists. I've noticed something *very* strange about it too. In addition to the sound randomly cutting out, I can also force it to cut out by releasing the accelerator button. This will kill the sound for about 1/2 a second. Doesn't do it every time, but will do it I guess around 50% of the time. This happens a lot as you would expect, with the accelerate-brake-slide mechanism used all the time in OutRun.

Strange stuff. Also, some tracks will be completely fine on sound, but others will be cutting out every 5-10 seconds.

The pad stuff is pretty muddled. I use a mix of keyboard and pad to navigate. Doesn't seem to be a way to get it all working from the pad, or at least not on my Saturn 6 buttton pad.

Any chance of a patch? And would you like me to log it with Sega tech support?

Please Any patch will need to be officially requested by Sega, since they published the game.

Sound wise - you aren't on a Audigy 2 soundcard by any chance are you?

Pad stuff is a mystery, so long as you've configured it in the controller section in-game by selecting it and then defining your controls (as opposed to redefining the keyboard controls as pad controls) then it should be fine. We don't have one to hand to try mind.

BTW - on the 5200, just checked and it seems I'm in the wrong, I was getting it mixed up with the MX series - which the game won't run on. So apologies there, but it should work on a 5200...

That is exactly what mine is doing. I'm using a 360 pad with official drivers and Soundblaster audigy. Drivers all up to date.

Some stages are fine and others screw up. Same stage might be ok sometimes and mess up other times. Have tried playing using keyboard and the same thing happens (although I didn't unplug the controller)

I thought it was pressing the brake that was doing it on mine but it might be the accelerator. I'll have to try tonight.

It gets pretty annoying after a while. Still enjoying the game though.

Audigy's are the seeming cause of it then, everyone who's mentioned this has the same card. Oddly enough we did have the same issue whilst testing it, and swapped to (what was then) the most recent drivers that fixed it.

I'll see if I can find out the driver revision. It must be something specific to that card or driver set though...

That's a really low end card by the way. Might be worth going for something with a little more beef. How about a 6600 or a 6800?

No idea how old the drivers I was running previously were, but I'd guess on around 3 years or so. I get the exact same issue with the very latest drivers.

I've submitted a tech question to Sega Europe now. Wonder how many it takes before they'll comission a patch?

For the record, I don't get the above sound problem with my X-Fi XtremeMusic.

I've just tried disabling hardware sound acceleration and it cures the sound drop out problem. Useful as a work around but not really ideal as a proper fix.

Yeah, one of the GameFaq's guys pointed that out too. Like you say, not a proper fix...

Can someone remind me how I play bog-standard standalone Outrun2 in this instead of Outrun2SP?
