    CoD2 single player is better.

One thing 3 does have is more indoorsy stuff. I was playing about with chapter 6 (I think) last night and had to go through an office section, followed by some kind of huge furnace room. I don't remember 2 having anything quite like that - it felt more like HL2.
Except with HL2 the enemy actually has some intelligence.

If you can, take it back and get CoD2 instead.

On normal mode I agree but for me Vet is still a challenge even on COD3 but with COD2 I take my hat off to anyone who can finish that in a day on Vet it drove me insane.

First time through yes, I agree.
I see vet mode on these games as something like an old fashioned shoot'em-up: once you know the route it's actually pretty easy. Each scenario is a little puzzle you have to solve, but once you've cracked it you could do it again and again with little difficulty.

Fair comment I can agree with that.

My copy finally arrived from Play this morning, how's that for release day delivery? I've played through the first few levels and the thing that's impressed me most is the graphics. Not so much one particular effect or anything, but just how detailed the high-res graphics are and how many of them are being pushed out on screen at one time without any slowdown. Add in the effects from the terrain and weather and its a pretty amazing experience. I just didn't expect them to be anywhere near this good.

As for the game itself, I'm really enjoying it. But yes, it is another CoD game and I think everyone knows by now the limitations that brings, but on the flip side, you also get the sense of immersion and atmosphere. It only took a few levels in for me to be greatful I wasn't alive to have to go to war back then, something these games always bring home to me.

Only problem now is that there's too many games and not enough time to play them. I've lost count of the amount of 360 titles backed up on the shelf now.

I am currently on The Forest and it is proving to be much harder than any of the chapters before as the amount of re-sprawning and 'pop-up' enemy soldiers where you have to cross the road section near the end of the chapter is ridiculous but I got this far so I will preserve.
Ok, how the HELL do you do this bit?!? I spent and hour on this last night and another hour today - I've made it to the mortar bunker on the far side of the road only TWICE because I keep getting sniped in the back of the head! WTF?

This is a seriously mean section of the game, making it infuriating rather than challenging. Not fun.

Edit: Ignore my post a little further up the page. This (chapter 8) is not like CoD2 vet....

Just done the forest, how many levels are there in this game?

Single player wise I absolutely HATE this game now - It makes me enraged when I die and get sent a mile back to some ****e checkpoint from donkeys before.

I shoulda stuck it on normal or checked achievements - it's on hard but I'll be dropping it once I finish my current level (Same as Neil - Forest)

When you get to the mortar on forest how do you know when you're done ? I didn't seem to be hitting anything after a few shots but still couldn't get out the bunker - Then I die, back to the "we gotta cross the road bit" - another 10 minutes back to mortar rinse & repeat.

                  ****ing ****e.

Is ranked multiplayer still broken? I've not touched it since getting 'Gears, but I'd like to give it another go. As for Veteran, I am on Chapter 4 at the moment, and its not too bad.. Still don't enjoy it as much as CoD2 though.

With the mortar bit you keep on going until you get a cut scene.
I agree about getting sent a mile back but the thing that annoys me is you can't skip the cut scenes when you first load the game up, they go on for ****ing ever.
Overall i'm enjoying the game but it's not as good as COD2 imo.

                        You sound exactly like me...

Was at exactly the same bit and I got so f*cked off I sold the game. I should have maybe persisted, but when I have GoW sitting here too I'm just wasn't prepared to continue.

For me this game doesn't live up to the expectations I had. You can tell it's done by another dev IMO, it may look the same but the level design really isn't there.

Yeah spot on - It looks & feels like COD2 (which I adored both SP and MP) but this one is an MP game (and a very good one at that) first & foremost. The SP is infuriating to a level I find completely unacceptable.

It's not just me that's not enjoying CoD3's Veteran difficulty then?!

CoD2 was frustrating, but I felt I was making progress. CoD3 is bringing out the rage!

Totally agree, Glad I got it out the way and finished it on Hard though. I dont see myself ever doing it on Veteran unless I'm very bored one day!

But MP is just immense and thats why I'm keeping the game.

Call of Duty 3 on Veteran mode took me four days to complete in which I only put a lot of effort into the game tonight to get it done and dusted due to Gears of War.

The only 'hard' part is on mission eight when you have to go up the hill and over the trench to use the mortar to fend off the German soldiers and pave way for the blockage in the middle of the road in the distance.

I have done it and am proud but if it isn't hard then it doesn't feel like an achievement. Proof that the game is easy is the fact that I didn't get that Purple Heart achievement which simply shows that a player has died a lot of times in one area in any chapter.

I have played every FPS (Xbox 360) on the hardest mode:

Call of Duty 2 - Veteran (took me four days to go through it)
Call of Duty 3 - Veteran (first person on here to do it)
Ghost Recon - Hard (I admit that some missions were difficult)
Perfect Dark Zero - (Co-Op Dark Agent, twice)
Quake 4 - General (I'm the only person on this forum who has done it)

What is going on with FPS?

                                Why aren't they hard anymore?
You really love yourself don't you?
