I've found the Wii controls really draw you in after you've learned two or three of the special skills, and also during boss battles. You literally cannot sit still and play this game. You have to sit up straight and centre your body enough to move your arms, which is enough to make you use your body and make a physical effort that you may not even realise. In your mind you're only flicking your wrist, but that little bit of extra effort makes your body psyche itself up for action. It's a subtle but powerful effect and I it!

P.S. could someone who's played both versions let us know how the GC version graphics compare to the Wii version (aside from the obvious flipping)?

Don't want to spoil it but the further you progress the more skills and items your going to aquire. It's these that give the 'immersion' and put it a step ahead of the game and in fact (for me) make it more next generation than anything GOW could ever provide.

      It'll hit you in time.
I have played other Zelda games. I am aware that you get more items and skills. That's not new and wouldn't really make my point, which was quite clearly made on first impressions only, "unfair". My point was that all I am doing is activating a command. Flicking a wrist is no more like swinging a sword than pressing a button. If the sword mimicked my actual movements, that would be an entirely different matter. It doesn't. Nor does the bow, which still requires using the analogue stick to actually aim. We now have fine tuning and one more control element with the remotre which bears more resemblence to a mouse than a bow. Next-gen? Hardly.

Just a first impression. One that, yes, could well change. But hardly unfair.

Underwhelming control aside, the game is excellent. I think the Goron Mine is one of my all-time favourite Zelda dungeons.

Eh? With default settings, you use wiimote to aim. Or have you turned pointer off? Then you can't use wiimote to aim, which is little shame, as fairy pointer isn't really needed (fortunately you don't even notice it after while).

Yeah, you use the remote to aim within the window. To do anything fast enough, you really need to position everything with the analogue stick. That, along with the enormous cross-hairs on-screen, isn't any more immersive than plain ol' analogue stick aiming in my opinion. I didn't really mean to make a big deal out of the controls - they're fine. They were just my first impressions. As you pointed out, the big thing here is that they certainly aren't any worse (which was a genuine risk).

And the bigger thing is that the construction of the actual game is one of the finest in years. I'll see how it goes but this could possibly turn out to be the best Zelda ever. Well, after Link's Awakening.

            Finally finished the game!

99 hours! ^_^ How the hell did you 33 hour people do it? You must have missed everything.

A real treat, gonna replay this on GC to see the levels properly, can't wait.

Last boss was great, pure one-on-one swordfight with Ganondorf ^_^

I must be missing something when it comes to side-quests, I don't think I've seen any yet

Fixing the bridge for the Goron, helping Malo expand his empire, finding bugs, finding poes etc etc

I found I did most of the side quest-esque stuff like what is mentioned by the poster above during my runthrough of the game but having now beaten Twilight Princess it does feel like there weren't very many side quests to be found in the first place.

It certainly feels like Ocarina offered more in the way of side quests than Twilight Princess, but maybe I'm wrong.

Im fairly far through the game so I didnt think looking at that spoiler would ruin anything. couldnt you have put "Spoiler about end fight" or something?

Im not mad at you and its my fault as it was a spoiler but Ahhh

I came back back to my parents house yesterday for Christmas, and today I load up zelda and find my 30 hour save has been over written by my sister! I never normally get pissed off about stuff but im livid, can you transfer saves between systems? if so if anyone has a save around the 4th dungeon id be extremely grateful. Im not sure how the save system works though? can you transfer a save off an SD card to a pc and vice versa or are saves limited to internal memory?

                        You can probably transfer them.

I made a save point AFTER the glitchy area (the cannon) - so the save starts at

                        City in the Sky

. Tell me if you want it.

Doesnt ring a bell, so i dont think ive done it, I was halfway through the

mirror/prison dungeon, just found all the ghosts that steal the four lights

but its good to know they are transferable. I just been trying to cain it now and got through the first dungeon after 1:30

I'm not definite you can transfer them... who wants to find out

I'm stuck in the Forest Temple, and I can't figure out what to do next. I've freed 3 monkeys, but can't get any further. I have a chest attached to the ceiling by a spider's web, a huge rock covering the door to another area (no bombs in sight), and two double doors stopping me getting to another area.

I get the feeling I just need one thing and I'll be able to get on further. Any ideas?

in the room with the rock, you need to hit the nearby enemy that turns into a bomb when slashed and use that
