Fishing is really starting to piss me off.

I need to catch the Red Fish in Zora's Domain, I have the ****ing earring but still the little bastards won't bite. Am I missing something, I have had one bite in three days play.

Can anyone offer any advice please?

no configurable controls on the GC, not even the cam's x/y axis can be switched. that's stupid and ignorant!

2 hours into the game. like it, but it's still not gripping me like i hoped it would.

i didn't have any problems. just make sure as soon as you have thrown your line out that you keep the controller all the way down, when you see the weight go all the way to the bottom and you can't see it. pull back, then just keep holding it then and you should reel it in.

I hated the fishing. It took me ages to do. I found that waiting for the tall....thingy to sink a little into the water then whipping backwards quickly on the remote worked.

I was confused because I was expecting to actually see a fish bite the thing before pulling it out of the water.

I got it first time after waiting about 10 seconds for a bite! I dont understand peoples problems with the fishing, its simple and oh so easy.

I have a problem with the lantern.

I have filled it up at the shop in the village and got across the purple mist thanks to the monkey but when he returned it to me it was empty - I need to use it to burn the spiderweb but can't get back across the mist to buy more oil now that its empty

Is this me screwed or can I get some oil from somewhere else?

                EDIT:

so thats what that green stuff does

I find fishing incredibly tedious also (with fish involved that's hardly a surprise, though) - there doesn't seem to be enough controls available, which is odd as when you go into the Fishing Area it is great fun and really straight forward.

I'm not sure why they changed the controls away from one area when it works so well.

Spag - i'm pretty sure that was meant to happen. There should be a way

what i understand the difference is outside the fishing area you use the bobber lure which is crap because you cant see the fish and you assume youve caught a fish when its fully submerged and then pull it out. Then inside the fishing area ist good and just as relaxing as in ocarina.

That may be your problem right there. You don't 'assume' your fish has taken the bait, there are signs when they bite. I've been finding hidden water holes underground where I've needed to fish, there's even hidden bait

The Links Awakening Link is generally taken as the LTTP Link. In the instruction booklet it says that Link needed to get away after his Hyrulian adventure or something.

And Zelda 1's Link is same as in Zelda 2.

There is a lot of theories made about the actual timeline in the series. It is quite deep how they all connect, I doubt Nintendo actually meant for it to be this complex :P

Yeah, I doubt there was much of a 'timeline' plan. Most of the theories hinge on what it says in old instruction manuals too and I'm sure most of us remember that old instruction manuals were, in general, cack and were written by monkeys who may never have seen the game, never mind actually talk to the developers.
