I think since Eiji Aonuma became in charge of the series, Zelda has been a bit more story orientated (Only a little bit). There is an interview where he confirms which games were first in the timeline.

It is interesting, but Zelda hasn't been about story.

I always thought it was just a retelling of the same story. It's a legend after all!

That's how they can get away with having the same characters, locations and items in each game. As Edge says though, it's the only franchise that can get away with it, and in many cases revisting the areas is part of the experience.

I think the same too Pete, since it is a legend.

Its amazing how they can make us play the same game every few years and we still love it more and more.

I thought the order was Ocarina, majoras mask, Link to the past, legend of zelda and adventure of link is the last. That leaves the windwaker which i think is a what if scenario and im not really sure where it fits into the storyline, if there is one at all and it might just be the same story told differently.

I like how the wolf skill statues have sheet music. It feels like Im learning to play a basic song on an instrument.

i think this is the best zelda in the series. the dungeon design and boss fights are fantastic. i dont see how the peeps on 1up were getting stuck on them and asking fellow coworkers how to work it out. its a huge step up from wind waker, i found the dungeons in wind waker incredibly tedious and dull.

I've always seen the Windwaker as the logical conclusion of the timeline. I don't want to go into reasons too much as you need to see the ending to really understand, but it's made pretty clear that the wateryness is somewhat, er, biblical, shall we say. Also (and maybe this is just me reading my own meaning into it) I think it was partly if not entirely a warning about climate change and environmental issues.

i see your point there about the windwaker being the last in the series. I really loved the game but one thing that annoyed me is the way gannondorf wouldn't shut up about the wind, i know it was the theme of the game but man was he bitchey.

I found them hard, I couldn't remember what the pitch was for certain notes and when to put it >_>

I am musically talented, I should be ashamed :P

I also thought all the Links were the same, and somehow I did not find it strange that Zelda did not know Link in each game...

I guess all you need to do to become the Hero of time is to be named "Link" and you will get green clothes and a sword

ive managed to do them all. what i did was do the first couple of notes, so it gets recorded on the sheet, quit, then here the final couple and try to remember them.

That is what I did aswell, but then I forget at the last few notes >____>

Oh and I learnt how to play Zelda's lullaby and Ilia's theme on piano (Well I improvised the second theme). This is the first Zelda to make me feel Zelda-ish and make me want to get the songs

                          I'm well and truly stuck!

I'm in Zora's domain, have melted the ice and been asked to go save the prince. Now, I know I should go down the river to lake Hylia BUT theres a gate in the way (next to the house with the afro guy sitting on the steps) that I have no idea how to pass Can anyone help?

Im sure its nearly over for me though

There is one bird plant that I have howled... put a special wolf outside the castle. For some reason there is NO way to get back down to the lake. Just been on the FAQs (bah! - last resort) and they said I should be able to just follow the river to the lake, but no luck

that is really strange, i remember as soon as i thawed the ice at the top of the zora palace, i jumped in the waterfall and the current dragged me all the way back. it could be a bug...
