finished the desert dungeon today
as mentioned, they way you have to keep switching between wolf/link was really cool. i did have a little problem as i totally missed the second poe, and just went onto the other two. i knew there was something going on with the hole in the roof used to get to the second, but i kept looking up at the wrong angle, so i never saw the grapple point....took a bit of wandering around before i realised there must be something there i missed.
the boss was excellent too, although a bit easy. i expected the second form to go on for three chases, but i beat him with only two hits of the spinner.
havent really noticed (or remember) any other places where i can use my new item, so i think i'll just crack on and go to the next area straight away now.

is it right that you cant save after you've finished the game?
and if so, where should i keep a save so i can go back to do a few side quests/heart and bug collecting.
i'm now at the bit where
i've put the mirror back together and opened up the door to the twilight world
but i havent gone in yet. is that the final dungeon? if the final boss and ending follow straight on from this i want to keep my present save safe in case i come back to it.
if the ococa bird thingy works i guess i can use it before the boss door...assuming it works properly, as it was a bit different in the
sky dungeon,
which caused me having to travel though a large section a few times

Found the bosses a bit of a joke, had more trouble with some of the regular enemies than most of them, like those big guys with the full armor suit on which you have to chop off bit by bit. They were only really enjoyable to kill because they looked so niceAlso found it a bit odd that there was so many treasure chests with just rupees in them, even at the start when you can only hold 300 it means you have to leave them unopened and staring at you once you have the compass. Some of the new items are very cool but the truely unique ones only really have a use in their respective dungeons and a few other locations. Giving me the ability to call Epona whenever I want after I had already completed most of the game was silly IMO, I really had trouble finding the grass reed things once I got to traveling around on the field and ended up not using the horse much because of it.
Just a few problems there for me, but other than that it is a very fine game and I'll go back to it eventually to collect everything.

so you'll have opportunity to save again. It's a good idea to copy your most recent save to one of the other two save slots - that way you can always return should the need arise.
i agree about the treasure chests too, so annoying finding one and managing to get to it only to discover its another 100 rupees.
not many more heart peices to find now though, the last one the fortune teller showed me was back in the sand dungeon...not sure i can be bothered to go back and get that one yet. not doing bad on bugs either, only 4 more to find, and i havent gone out of my way to search for them at all.

Just awesome!
I've not had a go at this again since I completed it, but I think I will at some point and see if it will seem better in the second play through.

I finally finished the game last week. I dragged it out for three months!
I was very disappointed with the fight with Gannondorf in it's final phase. It was possibly the most tedious boss fight I have ever come across in my extended gaming life. For me, it was a disappointing end to a fine game.
Overall, I loved the game, but I can't deny that it has some shortcomings. Despite the vastness of Hyrule, I felt it lacked a bit character. Yes, we had the quirky postman and Milo's bizarre bazaar in Castle Town, but I felt that something was missing. At times it does feel as though you're just trudging from one dungeon to another - moreso towards the end. Maybe they over compensated for some of the criticisms aimed at of Wind Waker but at what expense.
The bosses also seemed a tad too easy and perhaps some of the challenge was lost in the ready availability of items, money, etc.
Yes, it is very familair, but if it ain't broke and all that. The Zelda games are one of the few games I am prepared to invest time in completing.
Cheers Nintendo!
