apologies for the bump, but ive just tried playing this, and something is becoming more and more apparent every time I give it a go.

Its ****ing dire.

Any reason why you think so?

You really need to play this game from the in car view to get the most from it. I didn't like the third person view. Made the game look cack.

I find it depends on the vehicle - the motorcycles and quads are better from the third person view for me, due to the way they handle. In fact motorcycle games in general I find better in the third person because the tilting is just wrong in first person.

I agree with you on the bikes issue. I just found that for the cars, big rigs and buggies etc.. in car view gives a greater sense of speed and allows you to see the graphical beauty of the other vehicles as you get up really close and personal with them.
Don't get me wrong, I could probably do faster laps in third person view.

I just wish there was a replay feature in the Japanese version, as I would love to watch some of the spectacular crashes I have had.

In car is essential for, well, cars...and buggies and trucks. The motorbikes and quads don't really have an on bike view, it's more over the shoulder or from a distance. I'll go for the distance view anyday when on a bike.

Just reached Level 3 and my god the game just got 1000 times harder. Been trying to finish a race in 3rd place for two days, must've played the track over twenty times and still can only come 6th!!

At over 7 minutes a race it's a major bummer, but I keep going back for more punishment.

Yeah it does get quite a bit tougher after level 2. I've done most of 2 and 3 and some 4. What's holding me back is that Sidewinder-something track. I'm seriously **** at it - don't think I've ever finished first on it!
The rest of the tracks I'm ok with. Just that one that gives me grief.

Like you though, I keep going back for more. Still loving this game!

I've done all of level 3 tracks now and some of level 4. I'm just going back through the level 3 tracks to bump them all up to 1st places so i can unlock the rest of 4.

I love it buts it's soooo frustrating at times. It feels like a real slog to go through a 7 minute race, concentrating to the max and then having to fight to come 7th. Or even worse leading the race from lap 1, get in the zone and don't crash once only to cock it up by clipping a rock and flipping your buggy literally yards from the friggin finishing line

Also the CPU cars seem to have some sort of invisible force field at times. I was in a big rig trying to turn left whilst a rally car came up the inside and forced me off the road and while i'm in winge mode i can't bloody see a thing when i'm riding a bike in the mud. I like the spangly effects but you can't see anything sometimes when you are on a dusky, muddy track.

Johnny that Sidewinder Gultch is a bast. It was doing my head in the other day, my missus and daughter had to avoid the living room whilst i played as i was getting well stressed. I went back with a clear head yesterday and i can clear it quite easily now. I take the muddy gully route through the 2nd half of the course as there's less to worry about and crash into (also the cpu cars don't tend to use it much).

And another thing the CPU controlled Big Rigs are absolute coonts. They seem to home in on you and when you try and pass them they snake all over the place and all you can see is their fat arse in front. They then crash into something and you slam into the back of them. It's lucky my six-axis hasn't gone through the telly yet.

Has anyone had any glitches etc. It's locked up 3 times on me now and i've had to turn the power off as it wouldn't let me reset the PS3. Also on about 3-4 occasions i've gone to turn a corner with the anologue stick and the car i'm controlling has gone straight forward, as soon as i've crashed i have full control again (my pad has a good charge too).

Anyway enough of the negatives i flippin love it. Top xmas prezzie and has convinced my mate to not bother getting a Wii and is gonna get a PS3 instead.

Im sorry for constantly being in whinge mode in this thread, but i personally think this game is an absolute laughing stock, bordering on ****ing disgraceful if you ask me. Never before have I played such a fustrating racing game, nor have i ever played any game that is so unforgiving, unfair and downright lacking in content.

I've been sticking with motorstorm, and im now on the level 4 races. Ive basically been determined to a)get my money's worth, and b)understand why all of you seem to be ranting and raving about such a pile of ****e.

Ive persisted through the tedious races, and have lost track of the number of times I have led a race for all 7 minutes of the 3 laps, only to mess up on the final corner with a tad too much wheelspin, to then finish in 11th place. This is my main gripe with this tosh. Any racing game, where you can literally go from 1st place to 14th instantly immediately becomes a ****ing joke. And when I say instantly, i literally mean in the blink of an eye, the HUD not even bothering to go through the numbers (whats the point?!). And dont even get me started on the level 4 races. Ive just attempted one, and just punched the contents of my bin, ****ing my hand up proper horrorshow. It just pushed me over the edge, and im lucky i didnt ****ing smash this bastard 6-axis into pieces. This game is a joke, a travesty, an unfair and pathetic waste of time.

In fact, i ****ing resent the makers of this game for bringing it into my life. Thats how much i hate this cuntish pile of wank.

And heres another thing. What the hell is going on with the festival mode? As far as Im aware, there are maybe 4 or 5 tracks in the entire game? And all festival mode appears to be is a "lets race all of these tracks in all vehicle classes about 20 times each" mode. By level 2 it was fine, getting to grips with the courses, and the AI was harsh but as long as you dont crash on the final corner, youve won the race (wheres the strategy in that?). By level 3 and 4 however, im frankly ****ing sick of dust devil or side winder gulch. There arent even any mirrored versions of the tracks as far as I can tell...

The design of the vehicles was mentioned earlier, but i feel i have to bring it up again. Its appalling. Everytime I cycle through the dreadful vehicle select screen, i want to gouge my eyes out to save them looking at the horrific big rig or bike designs. They all look like theyve been created in art class at a special school.

The soundtrack again needs to be brought up. Its a joke. I resorted to playing it with my TV on mute while listening to Air. Not only for irony, but to help me relax when I realise i just wasted 7 minutes of my life on a **** game, losing a **** race on the ****ty last ****ty corner. Restart race? **** OFF.


This game frankly isnt finished. I feel like a games tester, only one that isnt being paid for their ****ing hard work slogging through this mess. Any game that is desperately awaiting a patch, like motorstorm is, doesnt deserve to be released. Period.


I would consider selling this. But firstly, my current games collection is around 6 games, making this pile of wank 1/6th of my entire worldly games collection. Secondly, i wouldnt want to pass this ****er onto anyone else, as i dont want them to punch their bin like i did.

The sad thing is, people will look at the screenshots, knock one out over the "amazing!!!11" graphics and buy it. And then just watch, as literally tens of billions of 6-axis pads are smashed in absolute fury all over the world.

I understand that some people from the makers of this game are members here, and I apologise if what ive just said makes anyone cry. But this is all my own opinion, and this game has got me so ****ing pissed off, i feel like doing a guevara and standing up against this bollocks. And feel free to quote any of this post on the back of the PAL box.

In all seriousness, I can't get into this at all either. It looks good, but at the state it's in, it's nothing more than a glorified tech demo with ropey handling and cheap AI, IMO.

I'm hoping the US version is significantly better.

Yeah, it's called Mario Kart syndrome, and everybody loves that game, right? Even worse, in Mario Kart, it's usually a red shell or lightning, something you can't control. At least it's your own fault in this

Dave, why don't you just move on to something else mate if it's that bad? If you've got 5 others to keep you busy then there's no point wasting time with something that does your head in this much.
