why was nothing bar online modes added to the UK/US version?

surely a missed opportunity to tidy up an otherwise excellent game;

fix fickering shadows
'inside car view' with steering wheel etc
replays
headlights on night stages
speedometer
custom soundtracks
higher framerate
more game modes
extra tracks
'burnout' style crash cam

i could go on....

I've got the game with a US PS3 today, am I correct in thinking I can't play with PAL players online at the moment?

What version of the game did you buy? The game decides what territory you can play with.

all they really need to do is let you select a vehicle without making you wait for the loading (and from a simple list in the online mode) and that'd bump it from an 8 to a 9 on my scale-o-games

If I could pick any car and any course, and just have a Single Race mode, then I'd play this game forever. As it is, I'm bored already because I HATE the combinations of car/course/opponent that I'm having to fight against. It isn't fun anymore...it's a chore to play now I've reached Level 3 tbh. It's the only option I have to play the game so it's either live with this, or don't play the game at all. I'm not moaning because the game is getting harder. I love a challenge - give me any car/course and make me learn it until I know it inside out. But make it unfair or put me at an instant disadvantage and I lose interest immediately

I do like the game but if I have to pick between playing it under the worst possible conditions (ie vehicles that do not fit the course, against opponents who are perfect for that course) or not playing it at all, then I'd rather not play it. I'm really, really, disappointed with this game now that I'd spent a week with it

Got this today. At first I was absolutely loving it, I didn't think the lack of extra modes would really bother me. But now I can see what everyone means. A single race / time trial mode would really make this already good game so much better. It would be nice to think that this will come with updates but I can't see it.

I had a quick go online too, which worked perfectly. There are obvious issues with the lobby system and it would be nice to play people from different regions, but the actual racing experience itself was absolutely spot on.

My initial impressions of the game are that it's incredible to look at and a joy to play. I've only had around 5 goes of the first course with different vehicles but the game certainly leaves a hugely positive first impression.

I was really surprised at just how gorgeous it looks. It's had far more of a wow factor than GoW for me.

Been playing this the last few days and really enjoying it, still need to learn the tracks a bit better but its good fun. I can see the points most people have been making about the lack of modes and such being annoying and I agree that I'd love to just have a quick race, split screen would have been lovely.

One thing I'm wondering is why it doesn't show recently the met players on the dashboard? I had a good game with someone and was going to send them a friends invite from the dash but when I went to do it I could only see people I'd met on Resistance

Because only one of those companies knew or were privvy to the white papers explaining how to add that functionality ?
