So if i was choosing between this and faltout then i should go for flatout? As i find the no rain and stuff very offputing. Especially when thats what rally is all about.

Think it's just a case of racing game release overload, three top titles effectively out within a fortnight of each other, it's been blooming ages since a decent racer came out on the 360 and then they all arrive together
If they'd come out weeks/months apart think everyone (well the non-enjoyers) would appreciate DiRT more - the rally stages are great, sure some parts of the game could be improved upon, but overall it is a great (arcadey) title.
If you enjoy it good, if you don't, fair enough.

Wow! Caved in and got this today. It's brill! Suprised by how class it is and wish I got it sooner. Too close to Forza release for my liking though
It's well fun online with the live time trial battles. Very tense when you're racing and you can see the position you are in, in the top right hand corner changing, I won a race in under a second. I love how you can choose what races to do in career mode, so you can stick to what you enjoy most.

I haven't really played much online as I was concentrating on doing the career mode, certainley plan on doing so once I mop up 3 of the remaining 4 achievements
This will be the first game where I will have really enjoyed playing it and get all 1000 points (assuming I go for the 1000miles driven one)
Really must contemplate picking up the Wheel too

The achievements are all easy if you ask me (apart from the 1000miles driven, more a chore)
I have the Global Rally, 500, 1000miles driven and All cars still to get. Almost got the 500miles and All cars. Will get the Global rally next time I play the game
Have you tried any stages on Pro yet? Really makes you work hard for the win
A tip - If you want to get more money, do the races in the easiset difficulty first and then move up to the next one. If you do this you get the full amount of money for the next difficulty. If you go straight to the hardest setting then you only get the winnings for that. Can make the All cars achievement a little easier.

Unfortunately I spent a lot of money on paint jobs early on so when I finished the game last night I still had seven cars to buy...mostly hill climbers at around 500k each. Ouch.
The game went down hill towards the end of the career, the focus was too much on large truck Rally Raids and not on the pure rally stages. The difference in quality is massive, it's such a shame they didn't have the confidence to still with the one type (though hill climbs are great too).

For mileage Mike you want to keep doing the Pikes Peak (full) course over and over again (it's right near the end of career), works out about 12 miles in 8 minutes.
I was around 2.5million credits short of getting all vehicles first time around, didn't take too long, I did the opposite of Mike's tip, went for the toughest difficulty on each event and as long as you finish in the top three the money is quite good.

thats true but it also means that the money from the lower difficulties is then greatly reduced. The way I am doing it means I get the max amount of money for winning each race. Will stop though once I get enough to buy the remaining cars
I know which race you mean David, but if Iam being totally honest I doubt that I have the time or patience to get the 1000miles driven

That's what I've been doing, mainly because this is my first rally game and took a bit of getting used to after sticking to the likes of PGR, NFS and Burnout where I'm used to 'tactically' using other cars (or walls etc) to corner(also helps towards to 1000 miles)
Enjoying it so far, but bit disappointed by the multiplayer...just can't figure out why on earth they left out online rallycross and corr races...those two modes seem ideal for multiplayer
