Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

I just couldn't resist. The trailer for Uncharted 2 tipped me over the edge. All i hear is great things about this game, and now Uncharted 2 is announced i HAD to get this. Cant wait for it to arrive. Being a gamer who is more into Single Player than Online its great to get a game that tops in story and adventure gaming.

If you've played the latets PoP it'll make you realise just how good the stupid chatter is between the characters. I didn't realise how good the acting and banter was in this until PoP showed me how bloody awful it can be when done badly and PoP was about as bad as I've seen in a game.

Just from the "Ah crap" at the end of the latest U2 trailer they seem to have got it just right already so I'm staying positive about this game .

I still play this regularly on my PS3. I honestly think it is the best game on the system. The thing I really like about it is the generous auto-saving so I can play 30 minutes or so and switch it off without worrying about if I'll lose any progress.

It is simply stunning to look at and the controls are excellent!!

The script fizzes with the snappy one-liners that others have mentioned and I honestly did think that Drake was Nathan Fillion when I first bought the game at launch and have to admit to feeling slightly disappointed that it wasn't him

The thoughts and excitement for the sequel are starting to chip away at the feeling that SFIV is going to be my GOTY for next year. I just hope that Naughty Dog don't make this go the way of Tomb Raider and set the majority of the game in a town an stick to the originals' "Saturday Morning Adventure" style - a lot of the shots up online now are of Drake in a South American looking town with a heavy emphasis on combat but I guess that's to draw people in initially to make them go "wowz, look at them gunz!" I'll be happy if they include another one of those cool "into the screen" bits like the first game.

PS3 is looking to have a killer year what with Killzone 2, inFamous, God of War 3, SFIV and this due out!!

I'm ashamed to say that I still haven't finished this yet, really need to get it dusted before the second one comes out! But I do agree that so far it's been the best game on the system. I have high hopes for the second one!

Just rebought this to play thro again and to enjoy more etc, also seems they've added trophies, nice.

Great game yeah love it, also as im now studying computer animation its great to see games like this and heavenly sword (to name another) include making of vids, where you see the capture of the actors to final render etc.

I got to admit that this is one of the only games that actualy has a fear effect on me,

Play asia just shipped this out today. There is 6 days until Christmas, with the posties working overtime. Usually it only takes 3 days to get to me, so with a bit of luck i will have this before Christmas. If not i will cry my eyes out as i will not get the game until the following Tuesday : (

But yeah, usually 3 days, so time will tell. Fingers Crossed . . .

With all the talk of Uncharted 2 doing the rounds I've gotten back into this. Even despite it's age it looks absolutely superb and makes a mockery of some more recent PS3 releases (Resistance 2 I'm looking at you!). I had forgotten about some of the excellent environmental puzzles in this too, hopefully the sequel won't focus too much on the combat as the first screens suggest. I've just reached the bit where

you watch the projector footage in the u-boat station, and now the mutants and mercs are fighting amongst themselves

, but it reminded me of the frustrating end bit, but now I have hindsight on my side it might not be too bad.

I keep wanting to go through this on crushing but theres one part where I just cringe thinking about it, that bit in the foot high water where the people keep coming, christ it was hard enough on medium or whatever.

I hated that bit the first time but after playing through the whole game a few times it's surprisingly easy. The enemies appear in the same order each time and from the same entrances so once you've worked out where they will be it's not that bad.

The problem with the game on crushing is that you need to take down each enemy in one shot if you can or using hand to hand combat otherwise it only takes one or two hits to kill you.

I'm part way through on crushing and I only go on for about 30 every now and again and I think I'm at the

section which can be another nightmare until you've worked it out. The bit I'm reeeaaally not looking forward to is in the

town square when you have loads of soldiers for about 10 minutes and have snipers all over the place.

That took me ages on the hard skill level and it was nearly enough to make me give up.

I recieved the game today after 3 days, during the bussiest part of the year. Props to Play-Asia. Best site on the net!

And all i can say is just, wow! This game is amazing, and to think that i never thought of getting this game until now. Its amazing, from the graphics, to the story, to the characters. I never felt as moved in any game since Shenmue

When they shot Sully the bastards!

The shootiung is awesome and so rewarding. Yeah its a total rip from Gears Of War, but to me its much better shooting humans than shooting roided up space monsters.

Im off to play more. Amazing game.

Put me down as another one playing through this again. Forgotten just how truly wonderful the game was.

I remember reading comments back on release calling if Gears of Drake and the like but I think that's a little unfair. Ok yes they both use a cover system but I found Gears to be a much more visceral affair, lots of pray and spray with assault rifles and the like whereas with Uncharted it is much more down to precision, popping out from cover, carefully planting a few bullets to take out your target then duck behind cover. It almost reminds me of classic Time Crisis. Just needs an announcer shouting "ACTION!" every couple of minutes.

I also remember complaints about the hit detection not being accurate enough (especially when it comes to headshots). Never understood those complaints at the time and still unsure. Decided to go for the Headshot Expert trophy (5 headshot kills in a row) and a couple of minutes later I had it. Seems fine to me.
Such a great game. Easily one of the best this gen and can't wait for the sequel.

Yeah i didnt know there was complaints of that because i seem to get them all the time. Maybe at far off distances? Its great and the graphics are lovely too!

I'm itching to game again but the missus is watching tellie. Its awesome.

Just finished my "anniversary" playthrough of this before getting started on my Christmas games.

bunker section where it goes a little survival horror-ish

didn't feel as bad second time out. For some reason I recalled it being a respawning enemies hell first time around but not the case so clearly the sense of panic impacted upon my opinions first time out.

Also the final chapter still feels a little anti-climatic but that seems to be a symptom of many games these days for myself. Not sure why.

Did a lot better in terms of finding treasures (54/60) and unlocking Medals/Trophies. However, I'm certain I picked up the Strange Relic on my first play but missed it this time which is odd. Also, the remaining 6 treasures are going to bug me as the game doesn't give any indication of where they might be. A little indicator letting you know how many you found per chapter against how many there are per chapter would be nice. Or perhaps even listing the ones you are missing as gaps in the Treasures list so you can approximate based on where you found the others either side of it.

Perhaps a playthrough on Hard is in order see if they sit out at me this time.

Cleared Hard mode earlier today and nabbed the treasures I was missing first time out (including the "strange relic").

Will maybe try Crushing in a couple of weeks time but I've also got another 4 trophies to unlock. Grenade Hangman should be reached on another playthrough but I'm really struggling with the Steel Fist medals. I soften them up with 2 pistoal shots then a punch doesn't finish the job, whereas 3 pistol shots kills them outright. Really bugging me.

It's a combo move, you can't do it as two seperate moves. Do it as a quick 1-2 with a shot and then punch straight away and you should be OK.
