i totally thought that too. i was expecting some big switch like snake-raiden in mgs2.

you realise he has no nanomachines, which points to him being special, and then revealing his face i was well confused. seeing as he didnt bother putting his mask back on i assumed i was reading too much into it. but i was still expecting him to save the day at the end... which he kind of did for meryl

No change whatsoever. I was hoping they would include

        Big Boss

        with him.

That was some really awesome fan service, especially when Ocelot jacks Snake in the neck and his life gauge goes up MGS 1 style.

when Akiba takes his hood off and Meryl kisses him that he looked like a young Snake??? I totally thought this was gonna be part of the story and he was Snakes son or something as they pure lingered on his face at that point but it turned out to be of no significance because he is jsut the faceless lad from MGS1 §... WTF!!

Apparently the reason he looks like Snake is because all the genome (?)soldiers in MGS were created/manipulated with Big Bosses DNA. I think Liquid even says at the end of MGS ‘ you’ve been killing your own brothers’ or something to that effect.

            But Akiba isn't actually a

genome soldier is he? As he doesn't even have any nanomachines in him. I know Kojima uses this same character for humour but he doesn't show continuity throughout the games does he? So looking like Snake would just be coincidence.

He does, otherwise he couldn't have "loved Meryl ever since Shadow Moses" right? There's also a bit in MGS2 where he talks about Meryl and how his bowel problems are "even worse than they were back in Alaska". He's the same character throughout the games.

Although that probably raises some questions about Big Boss having met Johnny's father during MGS3 I guess.

                Hmmm okay. But how?

If he was on Liquid's side as a solider then, how is he switched now? Seems strange, is that ever explained?

And again, aren't all genome soldiers nanomachined? And he wasnt!

He explained himself that whenever they were supposed to be given the injections, he hid.

Although I'm not really sure how or why he switched sides, and I guess it wasn't explained in game as he was only "revealed" right at the end anyway - maybe it tells you in the MGS Database? I've not looked in that yet. I think the biggest question raised here is the fact that the Genome soldiers were created in the same way as Snake/Solidus/Liquid weren't they? So they'd all have mothers but no fathers? But it's supposed to be Akiba's father that Big Boss met in prison in MGS3? Hm.

Best not to think about these things in too much depth I reckon.

Okay, according to the MGS Database...

Akiba is the grandson of the Johnny that appeared in Snake Eater, and returned to the US Military after the Big Shell incident. Not quite as insightful as I'd hoped it'd be but never mind.

Ok, I just watched the end of MGS and Liquid says they (the genome soldiers ) were all imperfect regular soldiers who were 'genetically and digitally' altered to be like the Big Boss.

So Rosscos' right, if he never had injections prior to Shadows Moses then he shouldn't look like Snake.

                      Plot hole ahoy. :P

                        Also Naomi mentions that

nanomachines can be lost thro bleeding and ****ting, so even if johnny was to have had a few injections chances are he lost them all thro his bowel problems.
Infact that was actualy the reason i thought kojima was going to use, instead of "oh i dont like needles" OH COME ON, just tell us he craped them all out already! We're all thinking it!

                          I'm just about to start

Shadow Moses on a no alert run

. I can't see at the moment how the hell I'm going to be able

to get passed the mini gekko things?

                          What did other people do?

Well the emit a sort of scanning line..literally a blue line, im sure youve seen it on playthros etc. you just have to avoid breaking said line. Or throw a chaff.

If you are far enough away you can also take them out with just caution mode, but its risky, save a lot

It was quite tricky at some points but others I just bolted past them all easy peasy. The later sections of the act are quite tricky though and may take a few attempts. Just take your time!

I was replaying the 1st Act again last night and stayed up late as a result (sigh.......) But in my opinion Act 1 is the best of them all. I jus loved the way you had to sneak through the city and choose whether to get involved or not.

However as i play more i can't help but notice how much it 'borrows' from Splinters cell. The way you control Sam Fisher (splinter cell) is more or less like how you control snake now like crouching whilst moving or clicking a button to stick to a wall. Even down to the use of the night vision goggles, and the ability to shoot out lights to darken the room dramatically. I have no gripes about the control system......... its jus suprised me how similar they both are now.

Oh and im loving how you can befriend peeps
