I was talking about the third person view. When in first person I usually know I've hit an enemy. The challenge is actually getting the game to stay in first person though.

It just has such horrible controls that never seem to work right. Controlling Snake feels like you need a degree to be successful. It's like I'm playing a flight simulator.

They improved a lot for the fourth game.

Certainly has the better bosses and that sniper battle...

What a joy that is to play.

Wonder how many here took him out while he was sleeping?

Only issue I had with MGS 3 was the damn camera. Going into first person mode every time to see what is in front was annoying after a while and made certain sections a mare to do without getting caught - clean 'no alert' runs is the only way to play a MGS game properly and I just couldn't get through that way.

Have never played subsistence but supposedly the camera is like a primitive version of the MGS 4 control scheme in that.

The subsistence camera is the only way to play MGS3. It's a PITA without it.

I never found the camera a problem when I played it back in 2004, but when i went and played the HD one I realised how bad it was.

I still can't get the thing to do what I want even with the subsistence camera.

I was told about the sniper dude and put my machine time forward a week so he was dead when I reloaded the game.

I wanted all the special camos so I spent 1 hour hunting him down, sneaked up behind him and held him up.

One of my best gaming highlights ever that was.

Is that MGS 3 or 4?

I have the third game to play, still. (I always end up playing the monkey hunt mini game!)

I completed MGS3 but only played the Subsistence version. It was far from perfect, annoying at times but overall it was a great game. Some genuinely superb moments in there.

Anyway I am absolutely loving this. Teamed up with
now and making my way to my destination. It might inspire me to get the 3DS version of MGS3 as it has all of the new features from Peace Walker.

Sniper battle is MGS3. Track him when you play, it is what snake would do!

Bah, I'd clocked MGS twice and tried to get through MGS2 but got bored after Raiden kicked in. Really wanted to get through it and get onto 3 and 4 but dont want to touch em till I clock 2!!!!

That Sniper battle is awesome. Even almost 10 years later I still managed to do it different. I used the mic to track his sounds, and went via hold up to get his camo. I followed his footsteps via the goggles, but then the rain kicked in! Plan of action through the window!

It is. If i remember rightly the mic tracked his heart beat, sleeping and parrot?

Forgot about the camo stuff. People moaned about that a lot at the time (think it took a while to load?) but I enjoyed kitting Snake out in different gear - brick camo anyone? ;p I wouldn't have been annoyed at all if they'd kept it exactly the same for MGS 4, but the octo camo is a pretty cool replacement.

So many great easter eggs in MGS 3.

Like the time paradox stuff with Raiden and Ocelot and that crazy dream sequence.
