Been playing this, I find it hard to stop, I get 'just play to the next save point...' syndrome (thankfully there are lots of them).

It's not quite as scary as it should be although it has had its moments. Shooting limbs off of monsters is oddly fun and the game silently checkpoints every time you enter a room so the threat factor is a bit lacking. Also, I'm on Chapter 5 and I've never used anything other than the starting gun. It's so effective I'm just upgrading and selling other ammo so I can upgrade more.

Also, the progression feels a bit too chore like, "this is broken, go fix it... Now you've fixed that, fix this". Most FPS' have this but it's especially obvious here.

Fun but for a horror game it shouldn't really be this kind of fun. Wish they'd looked at stuff like event horizon and silent hill for inspiration for scares. Far too much jump scares.

The vacuum and zero-g stuff is great - the "audio" when you're out in space is just superbly done.

I'm finding this very dull! Currently on level 7, and am finding it a complete chore. And it started off so well! oh welll!...............

Just started this yesterday it is brilliant etc. (Will discuss it in greater detail later).

Quick question, the answer to which will have a big impact on how I'm playing it: when completed do you restart the game with your suit/ weapons at the stage they were when you finished the game or do you revert back to basic everything?

Only if you replay it on the same difficulty. You start with just the basic stuff if you try a different setting.

I've just started it on Hard. Wicked game so far, but it's crying out for a surround sound system that I don't have. Already had some jumpy moments, so looking forward to the rest of it.. Brilliantly gory too.

I got this for Xmas and I'm absolutely loving it (up to Chapter 3 so far)

It really deserves to be played in surround - the sound design is utterly fantastic. Everything from the banging, clanging and scuttling overhead to the way that slamming doors can still be heard in orientation to where they were as you move away.

Deserves to be played in the dark, at top volume

Just bought this today (thanks, Woolies!) Played for an hour. Pretty average so far; well done, but nothing I haven't seen in a dozen current-gen shooters.

Hope it improves, the theme appeals and the reviews compelled me to buy...

Hahahaha..........today I finally snapped! I've only been playing it because I think I'm near the end and just wanna get this sucker completed! Then I hit a point where I was constantly dying, watching the the load screen, then dying again.

Then I just ejected the disc and snapped it in half. Holy **** does it feel good!

Wow. I thought snapping discs in half was something you were meant to regret; I might have to give it a try some time.

Downfall is the events that occur on the Ishimura just before you turn up.

I just got this as a late xmas present. Not too bad tbh. It's no Resi like but I'm quite impressed in terms of suspense - it'd be much better stranded there totally alone though without that bird and the black guy.

Just started playing it from 10pm-5am with my mate watching. We've been trying to pick out as many homages to Event Horizon as we can.

Started it on hard from the get go, it's pretty stingy with ammo and I'm constantly limping around on 25%-75% health. Nothing too challenging so far however (on chapter 4), most deaths are taking 2/3 rinses to get down. Stasis is making stuff ultra easy.

I wouldn't go that far with it but it's just not having the affect on me that it seems to have on most people on here.

I got it at launch and only played the first couple of areas but I've had quite a few plays on my mates version too. It was suspensful at first but once I'd got to the bit near the beginning where I was able to punch the legs off the things attacking me it gave the game the same scare/laugh ratio as Evil Dead 2 has for me. I love the really over blown 8 gallon spurt of blood which looks like a hose has just been switched on whenever you so much as punch them, classic comedy!!

It's a great laugh but I do find that I'm running around just looking for people who's hands/feet/stomachs I can punch off rather than sneaking around feeling like I'm in danger though. I do really need more time playing my own copy to get the most out of it I think.
