Yeah still haven't quite taken down Mr Chainsaw yet despite several barrels going up, grenades and rifle shots to the head! While I agree the controls do seem a little clunkier than RE4, rather been enjoying the co-op mode with my brother, allowing for some strategy. And the use of Chris' arm and leg muscles in pummelling villagers to death
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

For the bag man fight there is also a loose electrical box hanging over the steps where the chainsaw guy is introduced. So after his debut cutscene, run back a bit and turn to look at him again; looking up at the electrical pole and shoot the box for a bit of extra damage and to slow the bagman down a bit. It will give you some more time to get in position for the red barrels.

Finally downloaded & played the demo last night & I'm going to echo most of the comments so far in that I really really dont like it

I've been spoiled with Dead Space recently & I just really cant get to grips with the horrendously outdated control system...it takes an age to aim & just feels so clunky.

I'm also not a fan of the new direction the franchise has taken...to me Resident Evil should alwasy have been Zombies & monsters.
I dont like mad villagers running at me then stopping & slowly walking the last few yards that doesnt make me feel scared in the slightest.

To be fair I think Dead Space has really spoiled me lately...I was scared countless times in that game, just the noises of the monsters was enough to set me on edge & then speed & ferocity of their attacks made me jump more times than I could count.

Resident Evil for me no longer has that affect

Now I could be being overly critical on the basis of just a demo but this demo has single handedly made me re-evaluate what I want in a survival horror game & realised that the Res franchise while great when it had no competetion it hasnt moved forward enough IMO to compete with the likes of Dead Space/GoW2 to make it a Day 1 purchase for me, which is a shame because back in the day I loved Resi but now I wont be buying it.

Quite bold statements after playing just two short sections of the game. More like Ghost Recon, sure... Did you also hate Resident Evil 2, 3, Zero etc. because you were fighting the "same bloody zombies" in every game?
but isn't that what a demo is supposed to do give you a taster of the full game and make you want more,

as for my other comment you have to admit a large part of fours story was based around what are you fighting and this kept it interesting, are you fighting zombies or just some angry cult of villagers, how can they have this hook again in 5 when we already know the reveal this is why i found fighting the angry villagers here a bit boring.

Maybe its a bit unfair of me to write the whole game off but it really did feel like a been there done it in a better game scenario type affair. resident evil two was a step up in many ways from one can the same be said about this

Man I wish they would branch this off as either a different RE-side story or a whole new series altogether and go back to making traditional Resi's. I love both 4 and the old ones and given the choice of a new RE4 type RE or a traditional RE, I'd probably go for the traditional RE, not because I believe they are better (RE4 is one of my top 5 games of all time, RE1,2,3 are not), but the old resi's really felt different to most games and very few games had the same feel, atmostphere and all that to them. RE4 while amazing doesn't feel radically different to a lot of games out there other than not being able to move and shoot.

Despite me saying I'd be avoiding the hype of games I downloaded the demo over the weekend.

OMG. Tragic controls and clunky handling.

This will not be gracing my 360 that's for sure, after the abortion that was Lost Planet I'll not be wasting my time on such a poor attempt at implementing what other developers have managed more successfully.

                  Capcom fail.

                      Eh? Lost Planet was awesome!

Well, after all the slagging of controls I was not expecting much but I LIKE it - it is Resi, not GOW or any other over the shoulder shooter - the controls are classic resi controls.

Played both levels single player - resi 4 in HD in Africa - that will do for me. Quickly got used to the controls, for using inventory, sharing items and mapping weapons to the d-pad for quick change.

I am sure it will get better with practice, just a case of re-familiarising myslef with the control method.

                        I'll buy it.

It was until you were diverted away from the snow-scape to the boring lava/volcano related environments; Capcom managed to chuck a factory/warehouse-like area in the bloody game too.

Upon looking at GameFAQs, it was mission eight onwards that spoiled the game for me although it slightly redeemed itself when you transformed into that uber-cool robot at the very end during the final showdown.

I remember you and a few others completing the game on the hardest mode though; kudos for doing that!

What are the graphics like? I've heard things about the PS3 having issues running it.

Just had a quick go at the PS3 demo. Initial thoughts are that it looks clearer esp details in the distance, seemed a bit bloomed on the 360 version. Sound on the PS3 is better. And the controls seem better suited to the dual shock - but then again I have been playing some older Resi games on my ps2 so maybe I`m just used to that control method at the moment.
Any news on dlc for either formats?

Isn't that effect intentional? Hot country and all.
