haha does with the hand cannon (in game and plastic shell). feels like youre flicking the chamber back in.

still, this is a game about shooting zombies... i mean mutants. why did i start talking about realism

I've found a simple and gentle tap with my thumb reloads really nicely... Doesn't effect the aim one bit :-)

Really wish the high scoring system was online, i've been managing to keep the top combo going for pretty much all the levels! Have been playing without the cursor too, which adds a satisfying layer of difficulty.

I really do love the humour... No matter how much i play this beast, i still find myself chuckling, it really is superb... Good to see it selling well too - hopefully it will keep in the charts so we can see a sequel (esp considering the teaser after the main credits ;-) )

no played the game yet but wanted to let you guys know that i am NOT happy with the officially licensed "Hand Cannon", manufactured by Big Ben. the grip is too short and clumsy that it hurts to hold the gun only after a few minutes. also the trigger could be more responsive. goes on ebay soon.

any recommendations for a replacement? I have thought about getting the Perfect Shot by Nyko.

do you happen to know how well in fact it is selling? it seems to be generally sold out over here but i didnt know for sure how well it was doing. great to hear though, it definitely deserves the attention

cant see why anyone wouldnt love the hand cannon but the nyko perfect shot is an excelent choice if youre looking for an alternative

I absolutely love the presentation for this game but the first level is terrible.

It didn't feel like HotD at all - nothing was going on, no danger and a hugely difficult boss. Then I stuck with it and it got better and better. Really loving it at the moment. So far the carnival level has been my favourite, brilliant music and brilliant fun. Brilliant boss name as well..

              you disgust me Nigel!!

              i really did Lol.

Did anyone else think the first level was pants?

It was when i first played it, but then i bought upgrades for the magnum and then i started to enjoy the first level.

It definitely takes a couple of play throughs to get into that one, however the director's cut of that level is one of my favourites

Not keen on the boss though i have to admit (despite the funny cutscene... you shouldn't laugh but it is funny).

Oh! And the soundtrack to this game is one of the best in recent times. Absolutely brilliant stuff. edit by charlesr: soundtrack link removed.

edit: Just listening to 'I Want You (AR)' - ha, i love this tune. That guy's voice is classically creepy.

                  "I love my mother..." *shudder*

I agreed on the soundtrack, it's awesome.
The game is good, but it could have been great if developers had a couple of months more to further polish it.
I like the levels and how the game plays (maybe a bump in difficulty and less hints during boss fights would have improve the overall experience for "the hardcore you all have been waiting for"), but there are small errors here and there that could have been definitively avoided: in more than one cutscene you can see polygon overlapping each other and some animations are awkward; a few details could have been used a bit more work (

for example the helicopter in Ballistic Trauma...it's simply ugly

) and maybe a more extensive rework in Director's Cut would have improved the replay value...branching paths, a la Ghost Squad, would have also been nicer.

I agree with pretty much everything you've said mate. I have to admit though that the humour and overall style of the presentation completely wins me over and allows me to forgive those inadequacies you rightly mention. What i'm hoping is that we will see an extra layer of polish, more features, greater difficulty, online support and whatnot in the inevitable sequel :-)

I wasn't bothered about the way the bit you mention looked - I can take a fair few rough edges on the visuals. It did bother me that for vast sections of that whole level there's no background sound at all, though. The audio is frequently excellent, but there's great swathes of it missing.

I think that some of the visual fidelity (or lack of it) may be intentional. Several times parts of the model will go missing in cut scenes (often guns) and there is a classic bit where spoiler

Papa Ceaser slaps the wheelchair dude in the face, knocking his glasses off, the next shot the glasses are back on his face and then in the subsequent shot they are missing again.

That is how movies were - another example being Washington

                          suddenly jumping out of frame

so perhaps some of it is intentional - it is supposed to be bad!

Been having an absolute blast with this over the last week, presentation is lovely and the story is a laugh. Love the one liners. Can't recommend it enough to all you Wii owners out there.

Have to say though, I initially didnt like the power of the Automatic Shotgun as it renders all the other weapons obsolete, but i've appreciated it more and more since completing the game in Directors Cut mode going for the big high scores and keeping a Scoregasm intact for a lengthy amount of time the Auto Shotgun is quality.

Also i'm not sure if its my TV but I really struggle on Fetid Waters to see approaching mutants, several times i've been trying to beat previous high scores and I suddenly get hit from nowhere by projectiles, I don't have this problem on any of the other levels . I've tried changing the contrast of my TV but it still doesn't help much, I think the level is just too dark.

Headstrong should be proud of what they've acheived here anyway and hopefully theres more of the same from them in future. They did comment that they'd like to make a new version of Virtua Cop. Let it happen Sega i'd pick that up in an instant. Thinking of picking up Ghost Squad now aswell.

I noticed this too. I had to reduce a lot the black level on my upscaler or even the first levels will be too dark to play.
