I'm trying to kill the cockadoodledo thing that sits there shooting feathers at you (some sort of side-quest I got in the mail) which has two hulaing oniis going around it (which appear to be invincible?).

Is there some trick I'm missing here, 'cos it's supposed to be a 1-star quest =(

It sounds like you're missing someone from your party who would help considerably. Think chef, think chicken, think super fast food

Oh~ =o Hm. But the quest has only 1 day remaining, and it seems the only new job building I can build is still the Savvy Merchant place D=

Do these quests recur? I mean, would I miss out completely if I don't do this time?

I think they do yes - though usually after a little time :-)

I think I'm drawing close to the end now, so am going to put off advancing the story (which becomes surprisingly more intriguing...) so i can discover all the numerous collectables scattered around the lands. I particularly love finding and recording all the citizen's tunes they hum so peacefully at night - such a wonderful touch that.

The boss fights are all very inspired and are so, so refreshing. Although the guardians are generally more basic with less imaginative attack patterns, they are still highly satisfying (really enjoyed the

          blue dragon

          - what a beast!). However, it is the Kings themselves who display an edge of creativity and it's always pleasing to be treated to one of those gorgeous cinematic

What a game. Managed to give it a good couple of hours tonight and was eventually forced off by our lass. I love the stroyline and the sinister Howser. The game has a sort of dual meaning like the best Disney films, younger folk will just love the game for its basic mechanics while I love the idea of this mad old bloke forcing you to go to war.
So much fun, so much depth. I have this feeling of wanting to make everyone happy, but at the same time wanting to do my own thing. Loving every second of it.

Glad you’re enjoying it mate. How are you progressing? Defeated the first king yet? Things swiftly go from beautifully charming to something very special indeed...

I’m potentially at the final stages now but I'm in no hurry to see the end. What’s wonderful is that, even though the story is drawing a close, there’s still so much to do. There are six individual books to fill for the princesses, and filling just one of those is a mission in itself. I won’t spoil what they are (although i've already mentioned my favourite being able to record citizens' humming), but they are certainly no afterthought. Then there’s the hundred art pieces (I've finally almost got all these - Yay!) as well as a hundred quests. Despite defeating all guardians and all kings, I've still got over fifty quests left. I’m not going to pursue the final moments until I've grasped every last thing - then straight onto Hard mode.

Anyhoo... The misses has finally finished watching her programs so back to my Kingdom i go. King Adz still has lots to do...

Oh... And another little touch i like is how the king's hair turns grey after extensive plays without saving, he even grows a little goaty!

Played some more of this last night and I still think it is brilliant.

I have built some more houses, a church, carpenter's buliding and a little stand where I can call my people to me whenever I want. I ordered the carpenters to build a bridge that leads over the river and now access more of the land. I tried taking on one of the bosses in that area though and almost died so I dragged my soldiers out of there as fast as possible! I know I can let them die and they might appear on the beach later but I have some sort of weird attachment to them so I just couldn't let them die. I think I will wait til my soldiers are a bit more stronger and then will go to tackle that boss again.

Some of my people also got married and had little ones, which was rather hilarious. I guess you could say my Kingdom is starting to take shape a little and I am loving it. I still just love walking around the land with my guard and exploring areas for loot

I just looked at my kindgon info to see that one of my people hated me. Then after a fight where a grunt soldier died it said that no-one hated me. I like to think that only person not on my side bit the dust. Trying to find some folk to get married now, also think me and
                    could be onto something romantic.

Isn't that due to him taking damage (like how the same happens to your men when they're on one life left)? I find he miraculously loses facial hair and goes back to being young after a night's sleep!

If you have hunters, it gives them extra arrows to shoot

I initially thought it was because of that (taking damage) - but i've also noticed it happens when the king hasn't taken any damage at all. You are right that he looks all refreshed again after a good nap, maybe he sleep-shaves :-)

I really like how they've portrayed the citizen's love and relationships with each other. It's quite funny to watch a hunter or farmer or the like pushing over a carefree citizen. The poor soul. It's also very charming seeing a couple sitting by the coast together, as they watch the sun setting or gazing up at the stars. The little comments they make are very sweet... Ive also noticed a few citizens out in the woods by themselves taking a nap and even animal hunters chasing after cats, wild pigs and rabbits. Farmers wake at dawn before everyone else to start their work and other workers do their early morning stretches. I've even noticed the grunts changing shift patterns at night!

...Little touches like this could go completely unnoticed by the player yet their addition really helps to create a living, breathing world. It is so much fun and so refreshing just wasting time.

Yay! Defeated that Onii with the huge spike bat thing and didn't lose any soldiers either, well chuffed with that. Nice to see my people had a festival again, those party animals!

Just as I thought my options had opened up quite a bit, well they go and open up a bit more. I can now build a lumberjack building and numerous other fancy buildings. They are quite expensive though so I reckon it will take quite a bit of time to get them all built. Oh and I had a challenge from the Onii King, I will see to him soon enough when my soldiers are ready. Grrrr!

The biggest compliment I can pay this game is I have Demon's Souls waiting for me ready to play but somehow I got drawn into playing this again. Top stuff.

I really want to get back on this tonight and have a pad around my kingdom. I was even searcing for info on this game today while at work, it has been a long time since I have done that.

Same mate. I don't think i've ever willed a game to sell well as much as i do this. The misses says i'm obsessed, ha, i think she may be right... But it's about time! I had forgotten what it felt like to be so consumed by a game
