That's certainly possible, but the game doesn't indeed hold your hand too much. For example, I don't think that the changing the party members thing you just said is explained anywhere, I just found it out by trying different buttons.

Oh, and add one more who likes this game to the list. Good stuff.

Edit: When and where can you get the new formations? It's infuriating trying to go up stairs with 12 people in your party and trying to get them all to go up them!

Concerning the new formations, it's an upgrade that becomes available earlish (a good few hours in mind) :-)

Until you get it, I found the best way to get them all up any stairs is by quickly sending them ahead with A and then regrouping. However, it shouldn't be long until the 'Evade' upgrade is available and then narrow passage ways, stairs and whatnot pose to trouble. In fact, there's certain areas later that would cause some serious casualties without it so it's worth every penny :-)

Yeah, I figured this out too. Toss those little buggers up the stairs yourself. That's what I call a king!

And Evade is now available at the castle also.

The sales are extremely grim, less than 5000 for the first week on sale in Europe.

            That's no surprise, unfortunately.

Lots of peeps seem to be waiting on a price drop...which is kind of a shame as this is easily worth the asking price. It's huge, and brilliant.

Anyone know what the crack is with the

              wizard factory thing

you can build in 'Magical Land'? I keep sending my carefree's in there but they can't reach the ruddy doors.

I keep harping on about the boss battles in this...but I just came up against an absolute gem last night involving a mountain and tentacle-like facial hair. The animated cut-scenes are wondrous...there's a kind of Katamari vibe about some of the characters and humour.

I have to ask as I am very interested in this title. Does anyone know if this has a Japan release date?

Price drop? WTF??? It can be had for about £20 as somebody pointed earlier in the thread.

Any tips for the giant mushroom and mad mask rumours? I'm getting my ass handed to me every time.

                    EDIT: Thanks, got it now!

Oh. Err..Sorry Didn't know it was already cheap. In that case I'm stumped as to why it's not sold so well...perhaps Pikmin 2 took the edge off it.

If you mean the second white giant shroom... I used a load of warriors and made sure I regrouped them whenever he attacked (watch out for the steam fumes!). You can easily dodge his early attacks, but when his health's down he does an attack that hits pretty much the whole playing field. But there's a little pathway you can hide in if you're quick enough.

For the mad mask fellow I used a load o' archers and fired from the other side of the tree trunk, then used a few guards to jump him whilst the archers root him to the spot. Also, it helped to have the 'guard formation' to dodge his axe throw. Gots to dodge that axe throw.

Hope that helps ...though knowing my crappy english skills, it might not.

Your English skills are fine mate. How long have you been playing out of interest? Got the higher band of warriors yet? Using them is a lot of fun!

I do love how free progression is. For instance, yesterday I died on a boss and instead of retackling him I thought I would spend just a little time gathering some money and hunt out some treasure. I've since spent a good ten or so hours doing other things that have absolutely nothing to do with the main quest. I’ve uncovered new areas, defeated previously undiscovered foes, collected new items, weapons, art pieces and even got new and better job types. It’s amazing that the very same boss still awaits! Love this game

Heh...cheers Got the upgraded knights yeah....and I've got about 20 hours on the game clock. I just defeated the fellow atop 'Sobamanjaro' last night. Loved the idea of the character and concept, but admittedly, it did put a slight test on my patience after so many restarts. But like you say, there's so much to do you can forget about bosses for a couple of hours and just explore. Some of the environments have a lovely atmosphere.

I've collected 50 paintings (and didn't realise you could exchange them for new items with the artist, I might add). What I love is that something as small as a concept art gallery has been fleshed out in to a whole environment. I really hope I get all 100 just to see the exhibition in all its glory. Though some of them are deviously hidden.

There's not an ounce of fat in this game. It's all the good stuff. The Wii's quietly having a really good year I think...Punch Out is the next biggy and that's looking to be epic.

I agree the Wii has had the best 2009 out of all formats (so far).

                            Excitebots
                            Kororinpa 2
                            Madworld
                            HOTD:Overkill
                            Rock Band 2 (PAL)
                            Little King's Story

And sure fire games to come like Punch Out, Dead Space, The Conduit over the next few months the Wii has surely stepped upto the table in 09 already.

I'm obviously doing something wrong. I've been challenged by the Oni King but I can't work out how to get down to him. There's a door to the south that looks like its made of fabric but I can't get open. There are also two sections blocked up with wooden chunks but all the units I throw at them just have a question mark above them and run back. I've also tried to get further up the beach where there are some lego blocks but I get ???'s when I try every type of unit against it. I seem to have reached a dead end and nobody seems to have written a FAQ about the game yet.

That door opens after you beat the Onii King. You have to go to the left of that door and build stairs with your carpenters to get on the higher ground, if I recall correctly. From there you can eventually get to Onii King.

And only Lumberjacks can break those huge tree stumps, but normal soldiers for example can break the normal logs.
