You can also pay to unlock things you can obtain through normal play...I know it's not the first game to allow this, but since this game is based on skills and playing will sharpen them, these are completely useless.

Got my first ragequitters today, so now my d-card shows 4 unfinished games even though I have always played to completion

I think 2 of those may have been for leaving a lobby in player matches before it was disbanded... certainly I only had 2 people pull the plug during the match and I have never quit a match myself.

It really sucks that both players are punished for one person's actions.

          Black Borders?

Are they top and bottom or left and right?

Just wondering would the special edition fit through a letterbox? Still waiting for mine.

There are three different display settings - A, B or C.

One of them zooms in slightly so the screen has no borders, this is probably the preferable option if they annoy you as you can shift the HUD wherever you want it. The one I chose gives me tiny borders at the left and right though, as I want to see everything. I don't remember any of them giving me top/bottom borders though!

God knows why it doesn't fit on a standard 16:9 screen without any tweaking.

Erm, it's in Option -> Display Settings -> Scaling Type. It's the first option above the HUD settings on the PS3 version.

I just came out of some player matches using Tager where the other lower level guy kept losing and yet continued to play against me.. first time the shoe has been on the other foot as it's usually me that is the stubborn punching bag! I'm grateful to him for sticking it out, I got my percentage up a little bit but didn't gain any levels due to him being much lower.

I can only imagine the scaling is because the arcade is 768 lines and consoles support so many others. On my 720p screen, B (IIRC) looks perfect as-is, A increases sprite size and the HUD needs bringing in considerably to compensate. Perhaps this is for the arcade resolution or 1080p screens, I dunno. And god knows what the little ones about.

I had to set mine to B. I always have overscan with my games, but it never annoyed me.

Just got my 360 special edition in the post today, had a quick blast through arcade mode and a (very very close) final round defeat in an online match. Loving it so far, as expected it plays very similar to Guilty Gear

Had my first play with the game, completely offline, to see how the system is...only from tomorrow, let's hope not to get busted too much :P
I played through the story mode with Taokaka and Noel, then tried V.13/Nu and Rachel in arcade mode.
It's rather refreshing that so much attention went to the overall story and each character arc: I completed one of Taokaka's arcs (

where she ends up as Bang's disciple

) and I was only at 40% and encountered three choices. As Noel is was defeated by Jin and here goes an other 40%, no choices though.
Arcade mode is quite straightforward and I played it to test out other characters; I was able to do a 12 hit combo with Nu thanks to her C attack and it's quite fun to play with her, with so many ground-based long range attacks and powerful anti-air drive moves.
Rachel impressed me the most...which surprised me a lot since I usually prefer "immediate satisfaction" characters able to dish damage with direct blows rather than traps. However, her mix of thunder rods, poisonous frogs and wind-based drive is particularly appealing and opens up a lot of different tactics, like laying lots of traps and leading enemies to them with the wind or constantly pressing the enemy by closing distances quickly.
Still have a lot of characters to test out but I'll probably settle with her or Nu...until online players shatter my dreams and I'll stop playing
