My B Spec driver has now reached level 10, but he is an absolute tool. Awful driver and unless he has a supremely powerful he can forget about winning. The B spec side of the game is awfully annoying and worthless in my opinion.

Other than that, everyone else must have a driver who can f ing drive..

I don't understand why anyone would buy a driving game and then not drive. I never used the B-spec mode in GT4 once.

I do Bspec while I'm otherwise occupied, I think your missing out on some cars if you don't do it.

Contrary to a guide I read, I found it best to get a driver with the coolest character possible and some reasonably decent stats. My second (very cool) with the Braking and Cornering as high as I could manage and at least something in Accuracy has won every race I have entered him in. He is now Lv 6 (my first went to Lv 12 courtesy of the Exp the second gained). Admittedly I have given him suitably overpowered cars but then you have to if you want to get wins.

I have been interested in some of the AI drivers names I have seen. There was...

          S(tirling) Moss
          J(ackie) Chan
          T(om) Kristensen
          C(olin) Chapman

to name a few! My first two were randonmly named but I decided to go for someone a little more famous for my third so I now have P(aul) Newman on the team!

Is there any way to cheat in B-Spec? I figured you may know as you seem to be cutting corners wherever possible in A-Spec as you did with the PSP game.
            Kept you waiting, huh?

Only way to "cheat" is to give them a stupidly overpowered car. I really need to check on the level of cars that they are allowed to drive as well as I vaguely recall letting my first one loose in the Ferrari 458 which should have been too high a level for him. I'll see if my third (lv 0) driver can use my Formula GT, that ought to clarify it!

Just found a link to this video on GTP. Anyone who says the AI doesn't run on rails is in for a big disappointment!

Edit... Lv 0 B spec driver, Formula GT with Sports Softs!, Daytona Lv 11 Supercar Challenge Race (main driver is eligible). Easy win and he gained 2 levels!

does an expensive racing modification make any sense for an already fully tuned up car? and what does it add anyway?

Are you sure it's the first driver's class that is increasing and not just your B-spec level? At first B-spec level and driver class are matched, but once you get a second driver the B-spec level goes further than your driver's class.

I ask because I started using a second driver at level 5, and my B-spec level is now 6 but my first drivers class is still 5.

(edit - the entry requirements are your B-spec level, not driver class as far as I can tell, so that's why a level 0 driver can enter a level 11 event)

My drivers are O.Herring and O.Wolf. I would like to keep the animal theme going but I think there are only the two

The Racing Mod is not so good if your car is fully upgraded as all it will add is adjustable aerodynamics and some weight loss. If you buy it first you get all the weight loss, upgraded drivetrain, transmission and suspension and some engine mods which leaves a few engine mods to get the thing fully tuned. There are only 15 cars you can Race Mod apparently.

Finally figured out the B spec thing. Should have been more observant. Your B spec team has an overall level. Each driver has a Class (which I was mistaking for level) so as the drivers gain experience the overall level increases and also the individual driver's Class. Just doing some more Lv 11-13 races with Mr P Newman (now Class 7) using some race modded machines as the Formula GT is not eligible. B spec is now Lv 13. Looks as if B spec can use any car you can buy so in a sense it is not good to have your B spec driver higher level than you as (I presume) you won't be able to buy the highest level cars for him. As I am Lv 28 this is not an issue.

17 cars can be race modded.

There were 15 cars that could be Race Modded last time I saw a list. Is there a definitive list anywhere?

I have three B spec drivers now at Class 6, Class 7 and Class 11 with my overall level being Lv 13. I found it rather easy to confuse the Class number with the Level number which of course were the same while I only had the one.

According to this list (unverified...) it's (at least) 17:
For Gran Turismo 5 on the PlayStation 3, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "List of cars eligible for racing mod?".

I'm annoyed because I bought a nice Alfa 147 for use in the rally special stages, as it was right up against the power limit. And then thoughtlessly gave it an oil change which means it's now too powerful to be used. Live and learn...

I've just got a Bugatti Veyron which was 995ish BHP stock, and tuned it to 1140, its bloody scary.. Whats more impressive than its performance is the brakes, they are stupidly good.

                            *happy with himself*

wtf? what level are you? The veyron was a prize too. I'm only about 17.9 on a-spec.

This car destroys everything though, its mental.

                                Taken over my 830bhp lambo

This is my face when driving the veyron

                                All serious but in control
