I got the Formula GT a few days ago, how are people finding that championship? I really can't be bothered with the first race, I had a quick go at Monza, with the top speed set to 400km/h which was too high really, but got up to first, then made a mistake and couldn't be bothered with it, so quit the race. They really are too long.

I've got my B-spec driver to have a couple of attempts at Formula GT, but in one race he was 2nd near the end of the race and his tyres were fine, but he pitted - then pitted again the next lap as well. Absolute joke. The 2nd one took forever as well.

He seems to like throwing away good results by making unnecessary pit stops, albeit he was only in good positions because his rivals pitted.

There's one more car I want, which hopefully I'll be able to just B-spec, then I think I'll sell the game as I've had enough of it.

I'm still on level 29 on A-spec, 640,000 experience when I've grinded 500,000 to get to level 29 and unlocked nothing, so have to keep doing the same events over and over is just too much.

On a side note, what car are people using on the American championship? I bought an Oreca Viper which can do it in under 4 minutes, but I'd still like something faster...

Biggest pain was buying a Gallardo and then winning one. At least I'd done some irreversible changes to it so I at least have a stock one if the need arose.

I found out about that online thing. Shared my Elise RM and then had to unshare it so that I could use it again.

For that American Championship I used the Race Modded '09 ZR-1 Corvette. 860HP and gearing to give about 230 mph on Daytona seems to do the job with that race. Laguna Seca takes a little more care!

The amount of Exp required to level up gets out of hand. You need to do a stupid amount of "grinding" at my level... 28. I am about 40K exp towards the ridiculous total. I can see the same thing happening with B spec when (if?) I get that far.

This GTP post of Prize Cars may be of help...

Since no one else is doing it as far as I know, I'm going to start a list of prize cars and the events you need to complete to win them :) I'll start with the few I know off the top of my head and will edit the OP with any others you guys give me. Okay... *the (P) or (S) denotes Premium or...

Or you could buy a 640GB Samsung HDD for a quarter of the price of an SSD and have it fully installed in 12 minutes...
        Kept you waiting, huh?

Why, what's so special about the 640GB samsung HDD?

Well the game installs to it twice as fast as the SSD you linked to. It's a no brainer without even factoring in price and extra storage space.

I'm not suffering from this reported overly-long load time problem. The game runs as any other game does for me.

anyone else here finding Arcade mode a bit point- and soulless?

i am doing some fund raising in the moment by repeating the Turbo Challenge giving me 100k in roughly 10 minutes... my HPA Audi TT Twin Turbo is in reach

Once leaderboards are in, you may find a lot of people tearing it up in Drift mode. I love drift mode in GT.

SSD's usually murder standard moving parts disks.

Well I was 12 minutes for a full install. 1.03 update was 6 minutes. I was up and running in 18 minutes.

Is this true mate? I am in the market for a new drive for my PS3. I think I'm getting GT5 for Christmas and don't like the idea of these long load times but that SSD price made me cry when I seen it just for shorter load times!

Try looking at Hybrid HDD's like the Seagate Mementos XT, only a little more expensive than a regular HDD but it has a small amount of flash that regularly access files get stored in, so it can load those very quick.

Noway near as good as an SSD, but far better than even a top end 720RPM HDD or a performance HDD such as a a WD velociprator 10k RPM.

There is a review of one here

gonna pick one up for my laptop for a nice little boost.

I'm seeing some weird inconsistencies in my rally results. Sebastian Loeb challenges 1 & 3 - got gold on my first clean lap of each respective challenge (and by quite a margin too). Challenge 2, I can barely scrape together a bronze. This maybe isn't so surprising as I really struggle with the downhill sections on the Eiger course.

Then in the intermediate rally special event, I cleared each stage of the snowy day anywhere between 10-20 seconds ahead of the opposition. I would quite often end up overtaking them physically on the course itself, I was so much faster. In the final day (tarmac stage) I am coming in 4th every time and missing out on the bronze. It's bizarre.

I found the tarmac ones were always far closer than the snow or dirt. On some of the snow ones I would overtake two of the cars.
