I think I'm pretty much finished with this, for now at least. There's nothing meaningful left to do apart from the ridiculous endurance events and I've no intention of doing those, or leaving my PS3 running for weeks on end to do them in B-spec.

Its a great game, but the structure of the career mode is bloody awful. Hopefully they'll patch in more events.

I can't see them fixing up this terrible a-spec mode. It's so obvious that this mode has been random generated in the last three weeks before release. The 2 Ferrari's are even useless.

What they do now is adding overtake races for the sake of it. Those come with restrictions which is good, but it should've been the case in A-spec. A minolta can enter Super GT, pathetic.

I'm addicted to the car collecting, but not much beside that. I tried the Grand valley endurance, but gave up after 10 laps. It's a waste of time and the rewards are crap.

I ve been money grinding either on the Extreme American Indy or Extreme Euro Rome race and still have about 9 million in the kitty... just need to stop buying so many cars. I am still waiting for the NOMAD Diablo to turn up though I may have missed it courtesy of some long events. With the grinding I just levelled A spec up to 31.

For the avid car collector there is plenty of scope to keep levelling without running ridiculous length enduros becuase of the number of cars at around a million credits or more.

Incidentally that Rome Race I am happier to do as it gives me plenty of cars to try out. Used a purchased (and restored) BMW 2002 Turbo (tuned) for at least a million credits (I had the prize one but the UCD one was metallic green). Then I ran a Griffith 500 a few times (which was when I hit Lv 31). Ok it is (currently) only 99K and 4.7K Exp and takes 6-7 minutes but it makes for a good test track if you are into settings (I'm not) as there is a variety of corners.

The seasonal events are pretty nice.

I Golded the CR-Z, RX-7 GT-X and Challenger R/T '70 Races on "01". Used the "cheat" button to make up for my lack of ability. CR-Z one was fairly easy, just had to make sure I overtook cleanly. RX-7 was a little trickier, using "cheat" and all the track (the concrete before the first bridge is useful), I just missed by .033 first time. Second run I was "cleaner" and won comfortably. Challenger one is easiest. Buy a Customisable Gearbox and the Sports Exhaust Cat to bring HP up to 425 HP. I also bought the drivetrain upgrades. I will try it shortly without the "cheat" button. Only adjustment was setting top speed on the transmission to 174 mph (the other cars top out at about 120 mph so you get a huge advantage). On the three laps I was able to draft I saw in excess of 150 mph. On the two times I did it (on different accounts) the worst was a win by 6.5 seconds... got blocked! On a new account with CR-Z event (sent car there) and Challenger event (bought car there) only I ended up with 900K credits and Lv 16!

Where do you get an RX-7 GT-X from?

I think I got one from the main New car dealership. I couldn't find a second hand one.

Get it from the Mazda Premium Car Dealership.

Didn't get on particularly well without the "cheat" button so switched it on. Now have Lv 16 on all my Accounts and minimum of around 900K. Have one UK account I am recording Used Cars on and another UK I set up to just mess about with! I have my US and Japanese accounts and a 1969 dated account (UK) that has one of the Gulf GT40's that I can send to the other accounts. Was set up as temporary, but with the number of paints now on it I will probably keep it. Plus being Lv 16 with about 900K is another incentive to keep it.

What is this cheat button you keep going on about?

:/ I looked in the Mazda dealership first off, the best RX-7 in there is the Spirit. Nothing called GT-X...?

The "cheat" button is the Skid Force Recovery being on. Some at GTP are not impressed with it. My excuse for using it is I am not the world's best console racer! When I use the button I have ABS of 1, Skid Force Recovery on (and the driving line as a guide) everything else is off.

That Mazda is definitely in the dealership. It is called the Mazda RX-7 GT-X (FC) '90. It is the previous model to the Spirit A, so should be to the left of it. (well it is in my EU version anyway). If you can't find it, I can send you one after 11:35am today (I have to make a note of when I send stuff with this 24 hour rule).

Doh, silly me assuming the 'GT' meant it was a super race spec machine, it's the old style one! whoops. Got it now.

interesting/weird stuff here about pikes peak.
maybe its going to be added/unlocked in a future update

A bizarre post on the official Red Bull blog casually and confidently discusses the Pikes Peak hill climb course in GT5 with rally star Rhys Millen. Is it an editorial mistake or a big hint of what's to come?

What does skid force recovery do exactly?

So the Nomad wasn't in the Pal release of GT3? I never quite got 100% on it, I was stuck on that Mazda MX5 endurance race and sold the game, then I bought it again eariler this year and realised you could use racing tyres and won it easily, but I'd only done the Arcade stuff on normal. So I started doing them on hard, but then the disc got scratched... I was hoping I'd get the rumoured Nomad if I got 100%... Is that how you got it in the Jap version, and why was it removed?
