I must say that I enjoyed Historic and Ferrari the most (A-Spec), just because there is no overpoweredness there. I also liked DTM with the stock Lexus. I even liked Nascar cup, although the road courses weren't really great with those cars... I didn't win with a big margin at least.

I also love FGT. Its just a shame that you can't save mid-championship as I had to quit. But I did win Fuji on my first try, even though I drove crappy for the first 8 laps or so. When I started to leak 1:16's, I took pole and kept it.

I used some settings I found on GTP (max downforce, negative camber etc), and abused the ABS and Traction (4 and 8, respectively)... I never spun out. Heck, I let an AI spin out

    Also, check this piggyback ride:

Managed to complete the Dream Car Championship (at last). First two races were just ABS and TCS. Monza was sunny. R246 I added some more aids and managed to win. Sarthe I reverted to just ABS and TCS, weather was clear. Not the easiest race but I managed another victory. The extended 'Ring was having a downpour (probably just as well from my ability with fast cars there). Gained the lead on the GP circuit and drove off safe in the knowledge they would pit at the end of the lap. By the time I was back on the GP circuit some nine and a half minutes later I had gained about 30 seconds. Another 30 by the time I was on the old course again. Laps two and three were just over 9 monutes and I won by at least 90 seconds. By no means a tidy race, but least I was faster than the rest of the pack,

Just the FGT to do now to complete all the normal races on A spec. I am optimistic that completing that will get me to Lv 29 as it is about 160K or less to go now as I am not sure whether I checked at the end of the Dream Car,

Dream car was pathetic. I had Rain on monza so put Rain tires on forehand. Stupid AI did not, and everyone but me pitted after one lap. So, free win for me. They also pitted on a sunny nurb for whatever reason.

FGT is good for exp but not for cash, some 63k for 20 laps on Fuji.

It may be 63K but you get a Gold (I presume) bonus at the end.

Had a few attempts at it. I need to avoid trouble at the first corner. There always seems to be one car going off into the distance. Need to maybe pratice Fuji some so I can get reasonable times.

Realised the advantage of Hot (far to the right) drivers. Cool ones need constant attention. Hot ones gauges go to extreme cool when the race has settled. If someone catches up to them, their gauges go towards the right and they speed up to avoid getting overtaken. Perfect for those long Enduros where you want to leave them to it. In two minds about keeping my original driver. Will keep the cool P Newman (Class 19). Now have hot R Hammond, K Yamauchi and G Berger.

Finding A spec frustrating (courtesy of FGT) so more B spec today!

              On top of my head:

-Online rewards and exp. for finishing races
-bigger rewards for offline play until Feb 2011.
-Online dealership with rare cars (this is offered by users or so?). No more hassle to find that FGT!

-Seasonal events with time trials, also giving exp etc.
              -Data backup
              -Something BGM related
              -Something race info related

lol, first attempt and I was rank 3500 or so in the FF time trial - in my defence the only car I had that was valid was a stock Civic... I'll probably try and buy some nice new cars to have a proper crack at some of these

991st in the Cape Ring Inside Time Attack.
Seems like a lot of people are using the Kusabi concept car for this one.
I've been using the Lupo GTI Cup car.

                    First game since the update.

I switched the HUD off as I've been wanting to do that since it launched as I find it get's in the way. I then switched the Mechanical Damage from one extreme to the other so it went from None to Heavy.

I didn't know what the hell I was doing when the race started and there was no HUD at all, I'm used to it in other games but it really threw me and I couldn't keep track of the gear I was in.

Because of this I clipped one of the corners Chamonix Main and it completely knackered my steering. I only did the one lap but I'm hoping that a pit would have taken care of the physical damage.

Anyone has tips for SSR5? The Skyline challenge. I tuned a GT-r to just under the HP limit. Weight reduction, soft sports. Transmission to 280kph. I get 2nd, 9 secs from the Ford GT. Weight limit is 1100... there must a very lightweighted skyline out there?

Need a classic car for the classics bit in expert or something, they're all 20million in the garages! geh.

These new seasonal events just add to the tediousness of it all for me. It suggests cars for me to use then doesn't let me actually enter the races with them. Now I'm obsessing over finding cars that exactly match the requirements so that I can try and win.

Dunno what the point of the online dealership is either, it's just another used car shop. Now I gotta grind even more to get money to buy yet more cars.

Dunno how much longer I'll stick at it TBH. I'm finding it difficult to get to level 15. I must be doing something wrong as you lot seem to be sailing through it without any grinding at all. The vast majority of the cars are pointless as you can't even really use them. I also hate how my reward for winning a race is usually the very car I had to buy to enter the race in the first place. I. Just. Don't. Get. GT5.

                          GT3>GT5.
                          Kept you waiting, huh?

I'm level 14 from grinding, I fear I'll have to do the same for level 15.

Also as I got to like level 13 by release day I think I might start again and NOT sell all of my won cars..

In past games I have never sold any cars. In GT5 no car I have won has been of any use to me whatsoever. I've sold off some cars, just because of their sheer uselessness. Why would I want a standard VW Lupo when I already have the racing version for instance. It makes zero sense to me TBH.

I considered starting again too, but I think I'd just give up totally if I did that.

I'm going through the licenses now, at least I don't have to buy any cars to do them.

I don't get it, I just used the veyron or lambo in most races it was allowed in and sailed through up until level 20 and then the grinding started.
