What a time for my Internet to die (and the rest of the village and a town 2 miles away). This was around 3:30 yesterday afternoon (just after I heard about the update). I started the update but it said it would take 3 hours (that should have been a clue to there being a problem I suppose).
Back this morning so I have now updated and copied my save to a USB stick (was going to copy a save from another uese ID on the PS3 but it was identical to the one from my main user ID as far as copying was concerned.
Fired up GT5 on all users for the Paint Items and saved (as it doesn't seem to save if you just log in and log out).
Will try the Fiat 500 Race shortly.
Revamped my B specs now. Kept P Newman (Class 19 Cool). I now have four "hotheads" who mostly seem to win races without a problem.
G Berger nearly got the sack yesterday for trashing the R8 5,2 in a Madrid race. Admittedly it was his first race but he just could not get it around a corner. He won fortunately just told him to slow for the corner everytime

All my money has been earnt by doing the special events (and a bit of b-speccing but that is insignificant). I haven't sold any cars either. I haven't even done all of the special events yet, as the only one I have unlocked all the way to the top difficulty is the go-karting.

What "genius" designed these special events? I take my stock (with oil change) Fiat 500 to the Tsukuba event and it won't let me enter because it has 1 Hp too much. I don't see the fun of buying another Fiat 500 for the event. A new one would be uncompetitive without the oil change and probably get rejected with an oil change (mine has done 9.3 miles which is surely not enough for a power increase).
Gifts are now apparently only allowed every 24 hours. Rather than one now and one after midnight.
At least the save backup works OK...

You simply shouldn't oil change for the Season events. I didn't because you can't see what it exactly adds on forehand. Adding a muffler, or filter or so usually brings it to the maximum. I'd say oil change is an easter egg anyway. It grants you advantage in Nascar, FGT etc, but punishes you here.
I actually wish the whole A-Spec had these limits as its dumb to go in with twice the output than of your opponents.
Money is eventually in A-Spec, but not really until Expert races. Once you'll get to level 21, which can be done without exp grinding, its a matter of winning Like the Wind. The Prize car will win lots of cash for you and you can farm Like the Wind Indy with it.Last edited by saturn-gamer; 21-12-2010, 08:38.

The weirdest thing happened just now on the Top Gear track during the British Lightweights B Spec mode.
I was winning the race by about half a lap, then on the final lap I was hit during the figure of 8 cross over by some stragglers. After getting hit, my position went from 1st to 12th immediately!!
I then proceeded to launch the controller through the TV...

So the new 600+MB patch is both a step in the right direction and an admission that they got some things totally wrong.
The new "online" dealership is just a fix so that you can actually buy a pick-up truck to finish the Amatuer seriers, finally. No idea what else this feature can bring. Also the actual pick-up truck event was as horrible as I thought it would be, like playing an upscaled PS2 game with terrible AI (the amount of times I was hit by the computer on the Daytona track was unacceptable.)
Also by increasing credits won in A and B spec races (for a limited time only it states) is an admitance that most players / purchasers just do not get on with its limited game structure, enough to bother with either keeping hold of the game, or trading it and selling it on in frustration.
The online rewards for racing are long overdue and should of been in day-1.
Whats clear is that in a couple of months this should be a better product overall. However PD need help for GT6, this version clearly wasn't finished when it left the doors, having spent 5 years dicking around with modelling cars (only to bizzarely partner them with ****ty low-rez PS2 versions, which is a desicion that is beyond my comprehension, as GT is a poster-boy for the PS3) they need outside influence in making it a better "game".

Anyway I've been hitting the Special events, and other than the VW van race (which unless there is a machine-gun cheat I don't think I'll ever finish) I am racking up massive funds. I've gained about Cr. 25,000,000 from the AMG driving school, so now I'm finding it a lot easier to get on. The Dodge online event will net me the same again, so that's Cr. 50,000,000 from two events. I can buy my F40. Up to level 15 now too. Woot.
I think the fact that I had been fully upgrading any and every car I have is where I had been going wrong. You don't need a lightened Toyota Vitz that can do 200MPH to win one race.
I've also nearly got my S license, as pointless as it seems.Last edited by J0e Musashi; 21-12-2010, 11:12.Kept you waiting, huh?

You need a Vitz RS Turbo to stand a chance of competing on the Vitz Cup though!
Up to level 20 and have not needed to redo any race again but I am begining to see a struggle for Exp Point now so have fallen back to achive more Golds on the Special events as the only other races I have not done are the GT All Stars and the Historic Race event as both events need cars I just dont have access/funds to buy.

I'm not grinding 20mill! it'll take forever.
Buy a Corvette ZR-1, give it an oil change and Race Mod it (give it a funky color, too). Upgrade it where possible, and add soft slicks. This'll cost you some odd 600k. You -should- have 905hp. But 880 or so works too.
Set trans to 420kph (260mph?)
both Downforce fully to the right.
Camber angle 5 - 5
Brake 0 - 0
No TCS, ABS
You should be able to take corners with 300kph, and with some slight defending you can win this. If its about Daytona, the ZR-1 Race Mod kills that race even easier. The Escudo flies off but is weak on the straights.Last edited by saturn-gamer; 21-12-2010, 11:52.
