I blame it on this stupid cold (which is finally going thankfully). It is the driving options. Some games just give the choice of tyre selections others give the full range of ABS, Traction etc.

Looks like the driving options were patched out in the updates. People without Internet are getting the full choice of Driving Options.

Cheers, is that in the music library, I don't remember seeing it there? If it is, what type of music does it classify it as?

Oh, I'd saved up half the money for a Red Bull X1 and decided to have another look at it and realised I'd have to hit level 40 to buy it - I'm nowhere near that, it'd probably take weeks of grinding to get there! When it told me I could buy one from the dealerships I assumed that I'd actually be able to buy one if I had the money, silly me forgetting what a chore they've made the game...

I'm not sure if I'd be better off grinding or trying the Vettel Red Bull challenge, I've got to within 8.5 seconds on monza, but I'm pretty good with the car now and don't see how I can find another 8.5 seconds just to get a bronze without 'overdriving' the car and risking getting disqualified at every turn. Plus I think I'm still 15 seconds or more off the Nurburgring bronze time and haven't finished one lap of Suzuka yet, let alone two...

I don't like spending much time on the Special Events as if you don't do really well you get no money or Exp to show for all the time you've put in.

Apparently there is a money cap in GT5 (why?). You are allowed a maximum of 20,000,000. Somebody at GTP did an Endurance race and lost the majority of his winning because of the cap.

I wouldn't put it past PD to have a cap on the garage. Just think, you can get your Trophy for buying your 1000th car, Unfortunately you can't actually own all the cars because that is the limit. I am trusting this is NOT the case! Some way to go at 400 (with duplicates).

Tried out the Zonda R. That thing is a beast. Too much throttle and the tail comes round. I managed a 1:03 ish on the Extreme European Rome Track as a best... when I wasn't nose first in the barriers!

"Star" in a reasonably priced car TG Track. I did try the new Fiat 500 (with oil). In Arcade Time Trial stopping when the gear indicator (Bumper Cam) is half-way up the last blue line (Line On) before the start seems to work. Hold brake and accellerator, release brake and go. Time was c.1:52.

Finally won stupid ass Daytona 10 lap race. Top speed 410 or so, Full downforce, no assists. Stayed on the left side, sometimes drafting and sling shotting AI cars. Deliberately went for pole on lap 9 or start of 10 and defended incoming via the rear view mirror.

Its not hard, don't drive in the pack or at the right. They will make you spin out if you do.

how exactly do you 'race' online? I joined about 4 or 5 sessions online and all there was was guys driving around bashing into one another....

I believe the host has to start the race or something. i"d prefer Prologues online if it weren't for the lousy netcode. It was about racing and there were winnings.

Before I completed it I was really frustrated by the Eiger section of the Loeb rally challenge, but I went back to it last night to try for gold and had sooo much fun. The car leaps up that track like a swiss mountain goat lol. I still got constantly disqualified for slightly tapping barriers here and there, but this time I didn't care cos it's so much fun to drive. I can't wait to get that car for myself and take it onto the same track for free practice laps.

One thing though, I'm amazed Loeb can be so successful in a car where it is practically impossible to see out of the windscreen! It's the first time I've had to switch away from in-car view - you only have a tiny strip of visible track, so go up and down hills and you won't have a clue where you are going!

Got B spec up to Lv 20. Decided that a very cool character means I can give him a "push" mid race for a fast lap and he won't do anything stupid. Having said that he spun in the same place on the 'Ring on both laps of the race there. Also doing the same thing two laps running at Cape Ring, I slowed him the third lap and he was OK, Being cool on subsequent laps meant he was OK as well.

Abandoned the FGT Championship due to hating the car!! Also abandoned the final Extreme series on the third race due to the Minolta Toyota not handling at all well, It was fine on dry Indy and Weather Monza also, Not sure what the problem was with dry Tokyo, but the car tends to power oversteer easier there than at the (probably damp as there was no noticeable rain) Monza race, Must be down to settings (which is not my strong point!). At least the Monza Race gave me over 18K Exp for 16 minutes driving which could make grinding levels a little more palatable. May re-run it with the Speed 12 which seems a lot easier to handle.

I sacked my first b-spec driver, he was at 7 wins out of 30 races and he lost three races in a row that my other driver (a rookie) had already won. It was probably a little hasty as my 'new' rookie replacement is just as useless, and I've got to get them back to the same level.

I don't know how some of you are getting drivers that win every race - are you handing them overpowered cars or something?

I have been using my third one (P Newman and I think Class 19) regardless of his arrow and given a reasonable advantage over the opposition he has yet to lose. My original is Class 11 and my second is Class 7. My Rookie Stirling (S Moss) has yet to race and of course I can now create another being Lv 20. May be time for a name hunt.

WIth some repetition of the Indy Dream Car Race (last in Extreme) i can get 9.8K Exp in about 6 minutes and a bit which must be best for Exp in quick time (over half way to Lv 29 now). Not so good on money as it is part of a Championship.

May try a repeat of the Dream Car in the Minolta and resort to aids on Race 3 and see how I get on.

Pretty-much, although some events restrict you to use similar equipment (Yaris, Gallardo, NASCAR, Formula GT), or even an inferior car (Historic Racing Cup). You need to babysit your driver for those. In most of the other events I've been able to just start the race, walk away and come back later to collect my winnings. When you've already got some decent cars in your garage from playing A-spec, its pretty easy and you don't need to spend too much money on cars or parts.

My main driver is Lv25 and a hot-head. I've used him exclusively from the start and I've won gold in every event with him apart from the Daytona race in the NASCAR championship. You need a bit of luck in that one since you can't escape from the pack because they're constantly slipstreaming each other.

I'm currently running an endurance race as I type this. Most of my B-spec levelling-up has been done whilst I play on my 360 or watch telly.

It is only really NASCAR, Ferrari, FGT and Historic where your choice of suitably overpowered metal is limited. Historic to my mind is down to two cars, the 330 P4 and the 2J (both fully upgraded). Deep Forest seems less of problem than Cote d'Azur. 2J to my mind is the choice for that.

With the Ferrari series you best hope (unless you have bought an Enzo) is an upgraded car that has similar power to weight to the Enzo. My B spec (with some prodding) managed that without too much of a problem.

I think my aim for the day is enough repetition to get to Lv 29 (could generate a decent amount of cash as I only really have the Enzo to get) which of course will reveal the obscene amount of Exp required to hit 30. Sometimes you can't help but hate PD!

Remnants of my cold are still lurking so not up for too serious a time of things!

Just read an interesting thing at GTP. Apparently using a Custom Playlist can cause the game to freeze (I think some here were experiencing problems with freezing). Are you using a Custom Playlist?

Just got myself a Lamborghini Gallardo and kitted it out with black rims and a carbon bonnet, need to unlock the final events as I'm only level 14. The car damage is great and loving the races, although for some massive upgrades are needed I find unless you buy a whole new car. (I used a truck for the muscle car events), sometimes I find it hard to get my level up as I don't want to buy old skool cars and kit them out for some events.
