I think basically SRF gives you grip if the wheels skid. I use the racing line as a rough guide of where to brake unless I am sure of the track.
The NOMAD Diablo was only a prize in the Japanese version of GT3. Due to licensing it was removed from the game for other territories. I presume that as the US is NTSC like Japan the Japanese game was used as a basis and the car was still there but only accessible with an Action Replay. I presume that as the PAL version was a new build as far as the display of the cars was concerned, the body to the car and the six F1's - licensing again, were not converted to PAL and so were not in that version of the game.
Just like the original Mini and a racing Supra were only in the Japanese GT4 (not sure about the two Asian versions).

Skid recovery off is pretty much Professional Physics. Its sim gameplay.
Take the 458 Italia, run a race with Skid recovery on and notice how brilliant it controls. Its because the game cheats with the laws of physics. Now turn it off and do the same, the car is suddenly an untamed beast that oversteers at the slightest rev.
Thing is that every challenge seems to be set with 'off' in mind. You can't beat lots of those times when you turn SR off, maybe if you're a super pro.

I got this for christmas a few weeks back and I'm very impressed by the game.
Managed to get up to level 21 so far without any grinding yet, but I have had help from my brother who gifted me his Enzo Ferrari, which has helped in a hell of a lot events so far. One thing I've noticed in this game more than any other, is just how significant it is to buy the correct tyres for each car, as the Enzo for example had terrible traction, whereas buying the racing softs allowed me to put the power down and breeze through the last 3 championships I've been doing with it.
So far I've saved 3 million credits, and have only had to buy a couple of cars, but I'm holding out to try and save up for the 10 million F1 2010 car. May take me some time though.
If anyone would like to add me to their PSN freinds list for this game my tag is: Sir_Malc.

The trouble with the Ferrari F1's is that you can't use them in A or B spec.
Golded the Loeb Rally a lot easier than I thought.
Someone Gifted me that NOMAD Diablo which was rather nice.
Been money grinding (well enjoying the Lv 22 Euro Rome Race) and now have about 18 million to spend on some LM cars (already have R89C, 905, 908 and Speed 8 though not all were depleting the piggy bank... Oops!!).
Started a further new account (permanent) with a 1973 Birthday and was given a Stratos (sells for 112.5K if I am short of cash). Sent across a CR-Z and Challenger R/T '70 and did the two Seasonal Event 1 races from it and the Loeb Rally again to give me Lv 17 no races done and about 1.3 million credits.
Challenger one is easy with SRF (Skid Recovery) on, no oil change, Intake to give 425 HP, Drivetrain improvements and a Customisable Tranny set to 174 mph! Other cars top out at about 120 mph and I was seeing almost 160 mph drafting on the Oval part of the track.
Will send a Friend Request Malc.

Easy my arse! The GT-R challenge is easier than that, for the Dodge one I can't even get a sniff of higher than 5th. It doesn't matter that I have a higher top speed when the car is such a dog in the complex section. I haven't done the drivetrain improvements but I doubt that is my problem. I also don't see the point in setting top speed to 174 when 168 is an option and you won't be reaching either of them anyway.
I tried out that skid recovery force thing. Either you don't notice a difference until you start driving badly or it just sucks all the life out of the car. The Loeb challenge on the Eiger with SRF turned on was really crap, whereas the raw car is pure fun to drive.

Quite bored with this. Not played it much only level 8 or something but not much to do and still not had a race that's been close yet. Always miles ahead of opposition which is just crap.
Also, it looks **** to be honest. The environments are utterly dire. For Gran Turismo and a game that's been in devopment so long, you expect it to be perfect but some of the buildings are surroundings are just pathetic looking. I really wonder where all the work went in this game. Even the interiors of the premium cars look crap.

Darwock that is strange on the Challenger thing. I am normally pretty average at these things. I was about 10 seconds slower after 4 laps without the SRF on. I had no Traction on or Stability. SRF on and ABS set to 1 or 2. I tried with a lower top speed but hit the rev limiter once so I figured 174 mph was pretty safe. With their early braking it is fairly easy to glance by on the inside. I caught up to the lead car in Lap 4 I think. Last attempt on the new account I was over 8 seconds ahead.
I can do not better than second with the Fiat 500 (why is that RHD rather than LHD like the older 500?).
Which GT-R and upgrades did you use for the GT-R challenge as I managed 8th with a fully lightened '89 R32 Skyline with just under the HP limit. I just could not get any closer.

I used the 15 mil (non-prototype) GTR from the dealership, it might be the 2009 model? And I think I only put a sports filter in it. I got up to 3rd on my 5th (I think) attempt.
I think the SRF only helps you in situations where you are driving badly, i.e. braking and turning or accelarating and turning at the same time - that advantage probably can make you faster but it would encourage bad habits so I don't think I want to get used to it.

OK, I have learned my lesson. Never underestimate the difference you can make by upgrading the drivetrain.
I was able to carry a much higher speed through all the turns and my average lap time came down by about 4 seconds - I won it on the first attempt with the upgraded parts. It was hairy though, I made a huge cock-up on the final lap in 2nd position and only passed the lead car when I was driving over the start grid towards the line!

Are you giving your driver any instructions?
In most of the races I just equipped him with a good (ie: overpowered) car and left him alone and the win was almost guaranteed. There were only a handful of races where he wouldn't win unless I watched and issued some commands. Even then I used pretty-much the same tactics - telling him to overtake when a corner was coming up worked a treat as he would brake later and go for a big lunge down the inside of the car in front.
Also, make sure you have the best tyres possible fitted or a win can sometimes prove unlikely, even in a car vastly superior to the opposition.
