fair play to you guys who are still putting loads of time into this...

    Comment

Well, I went with Assists and used the F2007 (so I still have an unused F2007 and F10 on my main account) and one of each type on my other two accounts so I can manage another one before midnight (reserved) and after midnight another three (of which two are reserved). Life gets way too complicated!

I went with Traction Off, Stability On, Skid Recovery Force On, Active Steering Off and ABS of 1 and managed to win all three races... by fair means or foul!! You have to have good aim to avoid the chicane at the Nurburgring (or at least a decent screen I suppose)!

I did almost spin out one car at Tokyo when I approached the first corner a little "hot"! The win there was by around a second (best I got was just over 2 seconds up). With "creative" driving I had a reasonable cushion at Nurburgring. Indy was not too bad as I was around 12 seconds up at the end. The laps were not particularly consistent. The last was my best and that was in the 1:11's. I set top speed to 230 mph and maxxed downforce for the last race,

Thanks for the F1 car Bassman, you're a saint!

I would have hated to miss out on this one as it is certainly a good challenge. It's a shame it has to be repeated instead of giving us a single large prize.

I have only done the Nurburgring one so far (chose it as the course I am most familiar with in terms of F1) but it took an hour of attempts. In that hour I only finished it when I won it, every other time I always restarted after spinning out at a late stage and giving up.

I had TCS off, ABS at 1, skid recovery force on (<- may not even have been necessary for sticky F1 cars) and everything else off. No changes to set up but i did put racing softs on. I found I could generally get into first place by the second lap, and the opposition ran in a group, so even my late spins should not have ruled out the chance of winning. I just found I lost concentration when it happened so felt it was better to start again.

As for the other new seasonal events, they are completely redundant. It's just more A spec, except you don't get given a prize car and it doesn't count towards any completion %ages. Without better rewards or at least tighter restrictions, there is no point in having them.

I definitely agree about the pointlessness of the majority of those Seasonals. Nice thing (or is that the only thing) about those races is there is scope on some of them (notably the FR race) to try out somedifferent cars. I used my second Lexus LFA on them (untuned other than oil and Racing Softs). Deep Forest was OK though some of the minor jumps did nothing for the cars handling. Suzuka was fine handling-wise, but for some reason Cape Ring was something of a nightmare. Very stranger. I may run some more Suzuka races with a selection of FR cars that I want to try out

I did the three F1 races in quick succession. I was pleasantly surprised how normal the car felt with the Assists I had on. Only "nail-biter" was the Tokyo race as the lead varied from under a second to over two seconds depending on how good a lap I had. At least there are no penalties for contact as I had the big coming together with the second placed car at the first corner on lap 2.

Did my two Indy 500's and now have A and B spec at Lv 33.

I echo the thanks Darwock gave, thanks very much for the F2007 Bassman!

I always enjoyed the Seasonal races as not only did they give you a leg up in the effort to buy really expensive cars, but they occasionally forced me to buy a car I would not have brought normally as I was saving. Every weekend then gave me an excuse to fire the game up, buy some cars and receive a wad of cash! This seasonal is a little disappointing, but I enjoyed them none the less.

Also I have a F2007 waiting this weekend, so I'm really looking forward to starting the F1 races!

Glad to help with the F1 Ferraris. I can find three Send slots tonight if anyone else is in dire need of one!

Tried the Trueno (SS Version), the one currently in the OCD on that FR race. Put Racing Softs and did an Oil change and had a pretty comfortable victory in all three races. Made a change to drive that car so worth the effort. For higher power Euro cars I would use the Rome race for trying them out, but while it is there the FR set gives me some variety and I can try cars from other places on them or lower powered Euro ones.

Still making tracks. The only drawback is that you can only ever have one shared at a time and you can't use them online.

Just sent you a Friend Request.

Someone posted at Gamefaqs that PD thought the old style Seasonal Events made the game too quick! Not sure of the validity of that, but if it is the case I am seriously unimpressed as I calculated it would take about 2 years to reach Lv 40 A spec using just the old style Seasonals from my current level! If that is too fast then I suspect a lot of players will lose interest well before that! Regardless of your level of patience grinding eventually becomes tedious and people will stop playing the game.

Nice of Sony/PD to give so much support to Microsoft with this change. I play on the 360 while Bob does some B spec grinding for me.

If anyone want an Escudo, the one currently in the OCD is lower mileage than the normal UCD one.

i think i might have to take you up on the offer of a Ferrari F1 if your still doing it.
i dont really want to completely blow all my money on one car.

No problem, send me a friend request and I will add you to the midnight quota today! Any preference as to which car you get (as the cars you race will be identical to yours).

I use my main account (both cars) and two other "main" accounts, one of which has both F10's and the other an F2007 (red camera pod). Yes, I used the buy a stupidly expensive car, send it to another account and restore the save trick as there is only so much grinding I can take! Taking care to exit from GT Life before Quitting the game is the safest way to avoid corrupted saves.

I'm not sure if I was sent one or not Bassman - but sod's law, our router crapped out last night and I have to wait until monday for a replacement to recieve it(unless I can repair it somehow).

But I'll assume one is sitting on Polyphony's servers somewhere waiting for to sign in and get my free paints on monday - cheers mate.

Yes, it went out at about 4am this morning!

You will have to work your way back up to 10 Chips a day after missing some. My main account now has over 1000 Paint Chips! Including a decent number of the Chrome ones. I received one and using the backup and save trick sent 5 to another account (one at a time) and then repeated the process for my other accounts by sending them from account to account. Next day I sent them all back (and restored after) so if you need any feel free to ask for some!!

I think the PS3 will have an easy day today by not doing any B spec. May run an Indy 500 before the next sending window opens as I should be in at about 8:30 this evening.

Ah, I didn't realise that the amount of paints and cards you get was dependant on how often you sign in.. always thought it was odd that my housemate who has almost identical progress to me was getting less each day.

Cheers for the car mate, I'll look forward to playing with it on monday (or router DIY at the weekend!)

Someone at Gamefaqs was complaining that it was more difficult with the F10. Not sure how that happens as you are racing against 11 cars identical to the one you are driving (other than maybe tyre choice and an oil change). If anyone is struggling I am happy to supply the other car in the unlikely event it will prove easier!

I had no real problems with the F2007 I used. Just had to make sure I made no mistakes at Tokyo.

thanks, just sent the friends request.
i'd like the newer F10 if possible, camera colour doesnt matter.

Edit: got it thanks very much.
