I had a USB stick that I had the save backed up on, so the process is...

    1. Receive Ticket.
    2. Quit game and Backup save.
    3. Reload GT5 and accept the car from the ticket.
    4. If car is rubbish, quit the game and restore the save from the backup and repeat 3 and 4 until you get something half way (or more!) decent.

    Worked for me anyway.

Been doing some of the (now easier) events on my other accounts (well one account!). Now using about 10K worth of upgrades on the cars, 8K being the tyres. Still winning comfortably. I now have an account with A spec races complete that is Lv 20 and I still most of the normal Specials to do (did the last Top Gear and the Loeb ones) and the rest of the Seasonals to do, though I will probably give the NASCAR one a wide berth! Not sure whether to bother about the Top Gear Bus event as I have access to the track on my main account.

Used Course Maker for a Circuit with 44 corners which is shared on my account and someone apparently likes it for drifitng. 64 corners on Tarmac!

Sweeeet, I got my NASCAR gift ticket! The advanced levels were easier to gold than the intermediates. I spent 2 and a half hours doing the outside line challenge at Daytona. The target was 13.200 and during the course of the attempts I logged 13.205 twice, 13.209 twice and 13.210. Unbelievably frustrating.

A wheel would undoubtedly be a great benefit here because my final winning technique was to balance the stick at the correct angle all the way round and make mm adjustments to avoid hitting the cones.

Now to use Bassman's save trick to get a nice colour scheme

You may find the NASCAR Ticket always gives the same car "Home Depot" I think. which I already received on a 100/1000 Ticket. This trick may only work on those 100/1000 Tickets, though I have not had a Level Ticket for a while to try it on.

Been investigating Engine Overhauls as they don't actually produce a new engine. Need to find a "pink" Charger to do an overhaul on to then get a fair idea of what is happening.

It didn't, I got shown a selection and was holding out for the Montoya one, but I liked the look of the m&m's car (Kyle Busch) so I settled for that.

I think it takes around 264 hours to get from level 35 to level 40, using the Le Mans 24, which seems to give the best Exp. to time ratio... Obviously a job for B-spec or the insane.

Found the car I wanted for my Engine Overhaul investigation. Based it on the quoted HP of the car. Looks like you get the most horsepower from a worn engine with a rebuild at about 10,000 miles. Why on earth you couldn't have had just a new engine I have no idea and to an extent makes the engine overhaul something of a lottery. The cars with 300,000 km on the clock have basically dropped to their quoted horsepower. A 0 mile car with an oil change is about 2.1% above quoted. Around 9,700 miles this rises to around 4.9% (ish) dropping to around 4% at 30,000 miles. 57,000 sees this drop further to around 2.4%.

I'm deleting my file and starting again. I have devised a way where I'll only need to buy a starting car and a Gallardo. Otherwise I can do all of the other races with prize cars. It seems pretty daunting TBH having to do everything again, but I'm unhappy with my current game and the amount of money I have wasted on certain cars. I think I'll make more rapid progress this time around.

If the seasonal events keep coming at the rate they have been there will be no need to grind money or xp, ever.

Speaking of which - NASCARs on the nordschliefe, jesus. I expected it to handle like a ton of bricks but it's actually great fun. Lucky that it is, because I am terrible and if it wasn't fun I wouldn't be tempted to improve.

First attempt I never even saw another car, just watched my split times get further and further behind. I haven't done anything to the car but the thought of making it go any faster is just silly! edit - oh christ you can't upgrade anything except tyres. I'm screwed ><

(edit 2 - what kind of lap times do you need to get to be competitive here?)

I don't know if the lifted the limit on that event, but I did it with a stock Impala by posting 6:45's some time ago.

I messed with the suspension and brake balance. Slightly lowered the back side. Topspeed just 360 or so, doesn't matter that you'll hit the limiter on the straight as the myriad of corners is where you can close the gap.

i think the only change i did was to max downforce. i managed to catch first place on that huge straight near the end. but it was nowhere near a perfect run.

cant remember what tyres it allowed you to use before, but obviously use whatever the best it will allow now.

I agree about the no need for grinding with the seasonal events, I've still along way to go with the A-spec/b-spec races but I've been doing these seasonal events as they are generous with the xp and credits and are more competitive than a lot of the other races as you are limited to certain cars and specs.

I want to give more time to that nascar nurburgring event as it is really hard but the rewards are good. I've managed to come 11th out of 12th so far! If I can not touch the grass it's ok but I usually can't so I tend to spin off a lot!

How do you change downforce? do I need to buy a better spoiler or something?

So what exactly is the deal with B-spec? I've created a driver who is as cool as can be. Is this good or bad? He's also called M.Ong, which I quite like.

I wiped my save and have started A-spec again too. Racing in the Sunday Cup with the Chrome line Jaguar XJ13 is quite a laugh.

A completely cool driver is not good as they will slow down when they cool off after the start and you need to keep hurrying them up. I had a full Hot driver. He cools off after the start, but if a car catches up to him his temperature rises and he speeds up.

If you are there for the whole race and don't mind commanding him a Cool driver will be fine.

Someone set up my NASCAR Camry for me. I had run the NASCAR series so it now has 892HP (oil change also). I used Racing Softs and managed to keep on the track enough to win using SRF and Stability and ABS of 2. I am rubbish normally with a fast car at the 'Ring but managed to stay on the track more than I usually do.

If you have enough cash to buy a car to do a Seasonal Race, doing them all should get you to at least Lv 22. You should get to do Loeb so the C4 WRC will be free!

Its bad, but it can't hurt to also have a cool guy in your squad I suppose.

I started with a cool guy, and during the later stages you'll want to rip your own eyeballs out of your sockets because he just refuses to take over or to take any risks at all. A cool driver will also decrease speed a lot when he's in pole position, without micro management he could eventually be owned.

A hot blooded guy is obviously more aggressive, and I can't say he spins out more than a cool one. I've never used my cool one again.

Its wise to put Hard tyres on the rear when dealing with B-spec. It does reduce spins.
