Got this yesterday and finished the SP today. Good game and very playable but its certainly not worth ?30 as its far far to short and the puzzles are just too easy. I can understand a game like this cannot hope to keep you on your toes for 15 hours or so with mind bending puzzles but i would have liked a bit more variety. It's better than the first due to the more open ended nature and settings but after blasting through the original and addons, i can't help but feel a bit disappointed with this.

Don't get me wrong though, its a good game for as long as it lasts but its a 7/10 from me rising to maybe an 8 when the modding community start to roll out their levels.

Its not that short, it was a good 7 hours long which is about average length for a first person game. I guess it seems shorter than some becuase you don't die often like you would in a shooter.

You also have to factor in co-op which is a completely separate game that's about 5 hours long in itself as well.

I think it's pretty good value really.

I haven't tried the MP yet so that may change my opinion. Like i said tho, the game is good and i played it almost non stop to completion, but the SP just felt short and a bit repetitive.

Valve guys said they were fans of lost. In fact you can find the pc with those lost numbers on it in ep 2 I think. Clearly an influence!

Anyway it's easily the best and funniest game I've played for ages but one criticism: why can't you save during developers commentary?! You could in all the others! Makes no sense!

I'm coming right up to the end of the game now and it's cemented itself as a favoured series now. I think the fuller fusion of adventure into the puzzling aspects does the game a lot of good. The tiniest hint of back story can often feel like Megaton which is a very Valve thing to accomplish. I'm not minding the length and with the networks being down I'm going to try Co-op using a 2nd controller. It's been a great run, it has its faults so I don't at all feel it's worthy of the coveted 10 but a 9 for sure.

Co-Op will probably be relativley easy to play with one person using two controllers for most part but there are certain bits where it will be impossible as both characters need to do a few things at exactly the same time as each other.

Worth a try though if you cant get online, the co-op is great.

Just finished the single player and thoroughly enjoyed it. The sense of satisfaction in completing each test kept me playing and playing, it's not often I'll happily divulge in a couple of very late, sleepless school nights. The design behind the tests is very impressive and it's to Valve's credit that they manage to maintain a rhythm of start test, find goal, rationalise route, solution, satisfaction, next test. That flow sets the pace of the game really well. It'd be interesting to hear from Portal newbies (are there any?) and get a sense of how they progress. There is a definite advantage in having played the previous games and being aware of how the Portal gun functions in the lab environments.

                Really enjoyed

GLADOS' journey and how she changed as a character. Funny how after all her berating and abuse I felt genuinely bad replacing her with Wheatly and even worse when he plugged her into a potato. By the end she really grew on me and I didn't actually mind too much that she'd reset herself.

I'd give it a 10 simply because at no point did it fail in it's attempt to keep me entertained. Gameplay wise, only one test had me stumped to the point of considering a trip to gamefaqs and to be honest at 4 in the morning with a belly of booze it should have Solving the test the following morning was definitely a head slap moment. It's sense of humor and writing just hit the nail for me and I couldn't fault it in any way. I'm not going to get all gushy over it, but when some thing just works and works well credit is due.

Finally started this tonight - just played through to the beginning of chapter three. The last puzzle in chapter two

where you're given a deflection cube, but you only need to use it as a platform

was genius. Major forehead slapping moment right there.

Finished this earlier on the pc, the source engine is certainly showing its age now but even then its one gorgeous looking game, its so rich in detail and character. As for the story & gameplay itself I thought it was funnier and better than the last one by a considerable margin. That finale is superb!

It doesn't offer the bells and whistles that newer engines do, but it's more than adequate. It never hampers the gameplay, and some of the sections are just stunning (particularly loved the

section that is lit by Wheatley's torch, the lighting there was fantastic

                            ).

I'm a fair way through now, into the levels of the game that seem to be

                            frozen in time

. Loving it, and I'd agree about the story and humour being head and shoulders above the first game, though to this point I don't think some of the puzzles are as difficult.

Your about quarter of the way through, so some tough puzzles soon to come.

                              Also Spoiler:

Did anyone find the Borealis? If so where is it, I can't believe i completely missed it.

                              For those that finished it.

If I'm a quarter of the way through, people are either lying about the length of the game or they didn't stop running (or to think, or listen to the dialogue) at all.
