In the end I just left my 3DS on plugged into the charger.

Of course I had to cover it up because of the incredibly announce bright pulsing blue light they felt the need to put on the console.

When on standby, does the power run out faster depending on whether your in game or at main menu? I try to leave this on with Zelda but any time I go to play it, the battery has died after only charging it a few days before. It used to last weeks without losing charge if I hadn't played it I'm sure!

I don't know. For me, I don't think I've ever got much time even on standby. This thing seems to eat power.

Later on when youre an adult you start in the temple of time, which is a more central place really, plus you get your horse which makes traveling quicker and there are teleport songs.

Alternatively for now, as has been said, you could just close up your 3DS and leave it in sleep mode, that way you dont have to restart from the treehouse every time.

There are also warps to Goron City and Zora's River in the Lost Woods, and from Zora's Domain to Lake Hylia, of course. It's really not difficult to get around.

I did the third dungeon on the bus this morning and accidentally pressed the power button instead of start. The screen comes up saying do I want to turn off or go to sleep mode so I cancel and the fricking game had turned off. Usually I hate the software suspension design the 3DS employs but the one flaming time it would be useful and the 3DS doesn't use it so the entire dungeon has been lost and I have to redo. Dammit.

Ah the incredibly pointless "we've already quit the game, do you want to stare at nothing?" prompt. Not to mention the fun of putting the power button where the start buttons used to be.

The only thing worse than Nintendo's OS coding is their e-commerce/online coding.

Sorry for bumping this up, I am getting incredibly frustrated, It appears as if the game has bugged on me.

I have just received 'Zoras Saphire', and am now headed back through hyrule castle, 'avoiding the guards'.
I have reached the first section of the castle courtyard. For some strange reason in the very first room/section (after link has first crawled through the small hole) I am presented with two guards that are stood completely still. I cannot figure out any way around them, I have tried jumping off of the barrels but that doesnt work either. I have tried entering at both day time and at night.
These two guards did not appear for me earlier in the game when I had to get through this puzzle.
I have looked on youtube at both n64 and 3ds footage and in every video that I have watched, these two guards do not appear at all.
Has this happened to anybody, is there something that I should have done and need to do still to make these two fellas go away?

I hope this was a clear enough description of whats happeneing,
                  Cheers.

Know what you mean. I encountered them once or twice on the N64. Don't know what triggers them, but sometimes they were there, and sometimes not. As for actual advice, I'm drawing a blank.

Cheers for the reply Alex, I will try leaving it 10 mins or so and see if they vanish. Maybe its the game telling me to have a rest lol, ive been playing it for a few hours tonight.

As far as I was aware it was impossible to access the courtyard section a 2nd time, since Zelda wouldn't actually be there. Did you get the cut-scene when heading towards Hyrule Market? If so check to the right of the drawbridge in the water.

Ive picked up the ocarina from the moat, It seems I mis-read where I was supposed to go, It appears I need to head to the Church, rather than the castle. Perhaps those guards are supposed to stay there to block ones progress into the castle.

You need to head to The Temple of Time to open the door, it's at the back of the market place next to the Shop, those guards will permanently block the courtyard, it's impossible to access again.

I rated this as one of the best games ever made back when it was originally released. I've never played it since but the memories I had kept it right there. I used the opportunity of it landing on the 3DS to get it again.

                                Personally, I'm a bit disappointed.

When this came out 3d worlds were still new, grand and an amazing progression in adventure, but playing it now it feels; small.

Jabu Jabus belly was bordline 10 rooms - it was tiny! Minimal figuring out - a switch to leave the zora on, one you needed you and her to stand on, and shooting the tentacles in an obvious order with the boomerang - that was it. Really shocked! I sure I wandered around Jabu Jabus belly for hours back in the day. I wasn't expecting to waltz through the way I did.

I considered the Water Temple as one of the most ingenius dungeons ever created. That dungeon blew my mind.
Playing through it again, while still very well designed, I still felt it was fairly straight forward and didn't tax me at all.

It's hard to gage because I HAVE played it before, but it was like 13 years ago! You just don't realise how much games have progressed until you go back to things like this. I wish I'd left this one where it was...Now don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game, far from it, but it's now lost it's 'one of the best ever' status.
