I think the item management is an improvement. You can mix herbs, and then store them which means they get added to your stock of pills. Basically, a Green herb = one pill and a Green + Red herb mixed = 6 pills. Your max health is 6 blocks.

I think Cover is L1 and then X when near a wall. But with Chris its just L1? I don't know. The roll thing is weird as well, to roll you need to press L1+X for the ducking motion and then tap a direction. To slide you need to press L1 and X while running. In both cases you can keep yourself on the ground if you hold L1.

The controls are weird. Thats why I wonder, why didn't they just use the control setup of Vanquish. X to roll, L2 for sliding... and the camera better placed... that wouldn't have worked?

Because that would be the logical train of thought to use and path to take perhaps?

What need of logic here though? We want systems that detract from the overall experience of playing a good Re game, right? Playing this demo more is making me appreciate RE4 & 5 much more than I used to. Couple of elements I just can't adapt to yet in this demo...

I like the way that if you are facing the camera and then press up to walk forward, the character actually turns around in a 180 degree motion that starts with them going in the opposite direction.

        Genius!

I think its because its still RE and needs to be artificially challening as always. RE4 and 5 had stupid AI and everything, but the games still weren't a clear walk in the park because of the gameplay that severely handicapped the players.

RE6 adds move 'n shoot because everyone wants it, but they still kept the overall gameplay to be an obstacle... made other aspects even harder. The AI in this game is still completely retarded, compare Chris' level to a random TPS for example, but the controls ensure that I do have a slightly hard time dodging their attacks so I will probably die here and there.

So yes, I answered my own question; its still convoluted because its RE.

Thanks will try. As above yes maybe they should have simplified it a bit. But that's too easy for Capacom sigh...

why do heads come off when i shoot into the stomach but if i aim for the head it just seems to explode randomly? stupid!

technically this one seems to be a backstep from Resident Evil 5. the PS3 version has lots of ugly low res textures, poor physics and mostly static lighting.

so far (2 hours into the Leon campaign ) the game is a mild disappointment. too much cutscenes and very little gameplay and fun. the idea to fight lying on the ground is nice but i could not use it to my advantage. maybe this needs some getting used to.

Did an hour of Leon campaign on my lunch at work which is the same as the 2 demo sections combined so no New surprises.

Still, I'm getting more and more excited for Tuesday (can't buy it early )

i had to play RE5 again after my initial 2h session just to get a better picture of what's on offer here.

so, i really don't want to spoil anyone's anticipation but better don't expect this to be in the same league with RE5, let alone RE4. of course i will reserve my final judgement until the end credits roll but my feeling isn't very optimistic.

Has it really put a damper on your appreciation of the series then? My friend received his from an online retailer today, asked him to let me know his impressions later.

Wondering whether to get this upon release or wait now.

I got mine today. Ad my thoughts after a few hours is I'm a bit concerned about the structure and story, I did an hour of each campaign and it seems unstructured although I I'd find myself rather enjoying it and my. Feelings are positive and it feels a lot more like resident evil than 5 ever did.

Thoughts seem a bit all over the place. In preparation I did the demo of Chris's mode and it seemed ok bar the camera again. Both demo plays have given me at least a better impression than much of RE5 did so Im still expecting it to end up bettering at least that entry. I also hope it's very linear, open spacez in any Resi suck.

RE6 crushes RE5 imo. RE5 isn't all that different from this regarding set pieces, but they kept the tank controls in which proved to be a fatal flaw. The setting of 5 was atrocious, with its broad daylight and stupid Tomb Raider caves. The co-op felt shoe horned, as the levels were very narrow. Let alone that chick that was being put there because of racism accusations. Really, daylight Africa as a setting for RE was one of the most retarded decisions in modern gaming.

RE6 is not a RE4 hack job for a change, its a game with its own mechanics and enemies. The co-op actually works and you don't have to babysit in solo play at all; its much like Gears.

Really good features of RE6 are the scenes where all lead characters meet and other players could be thrown in your game to tackle a huge boss. Or they can enter as an enemy type.

This is going to be the first resident evil game i'm not going to be until it reaches a tenner.
