Odd as it is, I've found more Brachy gems from killing them for res points than on quests. I've gotten 2 out of 3 that way. Drop rates, blah blah.

We took care of that pretty quick!

I spent the evening before work grinding on the narga/ian/zin G rank quest, bagging myself one of each mantle and the skymerald i needed to finish my Stygian Zinogre Blademaster set

Expect me to be wearing that around whenever I can.

About 20 minutes or so. I've got my Brachy tactics sorted now I think.

I need two S.Zin parts for my bow. I got everything else I needed from one double hunt. Not bad considering that it also costs 1.2m Z on top.

Still no Armorstones from Granny though. Not up for sale once in a six hour window. I'll keep checking. I need more defence ASAP. Narga Z set looks good for bow, so I'll give that some farming time next I reckon.

I'll be on later as usual.

Do you have the armour charm and armour talon to boost your defense?
You can buy the charm from the Tavern shop, and to get the talon you have to combine it with a Jho talon.

I've got all four Armor/Power trinkets.

With gunner armour you wont get much more than 380-395 range dependent on which armour types. So you're still effectively a 2-hit KO on G-rank. If you're lucky and have a sliver left, you're usually dizzy/ combo'd and then it's goodnight Vienna.
Likewise for Blade it's around 640-660 defense.

I'm finding that I can take two hits, with a slither left. Most of the time I can save it, but you get the occassion where something rages you and it's sleepy time in seconds. I just try and stay well back behind you guys and rain in head shots usually. I am particularly scared of Barioth and Diablos varieties, as these are fast-moving monsters who can take me down very easily.

Also how do I get into double HR figures? Once I go past HR8, how does it go up after that?

Are the multiplayer quests designed with 4 players in mind? I'm finding them way, way harder than the single player ones I did.

It was a while back but I remember the hardest quest I did in single player being to take down a Great Jaggi. In comparison to what we've been seeing in MP, that was a piece of piss. It was an absolutely herculean attempt for the two of us to do one of the quests (hunt a Barroth - had literally two minutes left when he dropped, after wailing on him the entire time) and one of the earlier quests (hunt a Qurupeco) is proving even worse given there's a massive dragon bastard (I think a Rathian?) that frequently likes to crash the party.

They are of a higher difficulty to compensate for more players. Being low rank doesn't help though. Myself, Kryss, Jimtendo and a random can take down 2x G Rank Brachy in around 20 minutes for example. It'll get (relatively) easier once you rank up and get a decent weapon and armor set to help you.

You should Dung Bomb the Rathian as soon as it lands too. That'll get rid of it sharpish. Failing that Sonic Bomb the 'peco, so it can't call in any help.

Well, the Barroth beat us plenty of times before we finally overcame it. One of the big switches for me was upgrading to a Ludroth's Nail weapon, which meant that I wasn't having to hide behind a rock and use a whetstone every 5 minutes. We're both at a very humble HR1 though - and despite doing a few hours of SP each, most of our play so far has been in multi. Maybe we're better off doing some more solo play to at least work our way up with some easier quests.

Good shout on the dung bomb though - think we tried that before but missed.

You can raise HR in multi. Do the key quests, then both of you set up your urgents to raise your HR to 2.

Multiplayer is designed for 4 players. If you're playing the multiplayer with just one other person then you need to have played the single player enough to get a shakalaka. Two players and two Shakalakas can finish most of the multiplayer quest. If the hardest thing you have done is hunt a great jaggi then I am guessing you don't have one yet though.

The way the game is designed, the multiplayer is a lot easier if you play it at the same time as you play the single player. Dipping in and out of both.

Aha - any rough idea when you get a Shakalaka in SP?
