I can't believe this: http://www.gametab.com/news/584855/
Moore: "Nobody is concerned anymore about backwards compatibility. We under promised and over delivered on that. It's a very complicated thing... very complex work. I'm just stunned that we have hundreds of games that are backwards compatible. He added: "more are coming, but at some point, you just go, there's enough, let's move on, or people aren't as worried about a game being backwards compatible - and I like to think we've upheld our end of the bargain in making at least two or maybe three hundred games backwards compat."
It seems the next retrocompatibility update will be the last one, pals!

The update on MS's site, is it just me or is the March update not actually the March update, I've downloaded it twice now, burned it to disk, took the disk, inserted it and no update has taken place, thus no playing of Black on BC. Looking at the date of the XEX file it says Novemeber !!! The other copy I have says December !! Whits going on ??

I do find the news very disappointing, not to say shocking. After all, one of the 360's selling points before its launch was its alleged progressive retrocompatibility with all XBox games.
There are still many XBox games I would like to play on the 360, firstly because I don't want to swap consoles every time I want to have a go at PGR2 or Midtown Madness 3 online with my friends; and secondly because for all other games, the display quality of the 360 is far superior to that of the orginal XBox.
I feel Microsoft has misled me into believing that I would eventually be able to play all of my Xbox games in HD - that's what I call misleading advertising.

LOL. I was partially waiting till they'd sorted out the few games I would still play on the xbox (panzer, forza, rc2) so that I could flog it and put the money towards a 360. Guess they won't be getting my money quite so soon cos I'll have to keep the xbox purely for them. Once forza2 and rc3 (fingers crossed) come out, the xbox will be a 1 game machine for me....

But gutted by this, if they have given up on more popular titles it means i'll never see Tekki in HD - something i was hoping theyd do as it was such a unique coup.

I'm still optimistic - we still don't know how many games will be included in the next update, if its the *right* 50 or 60 titles, and hits all the nails on the head, then we might get lucky. On the other hand, Peter Moore saying in a (translated) interview that no one wants backwards compatibility isn't an official statement that there will be no more updates after this one - he may have been misquoted, or misunderstood, or he may not himself really know about the emulation team.
Playing Ninja Gaiden Black on 360 shows the technology is more than up to handling 100% coversion (that game uses every graphical trick in the Xbox book), it is now simply a case of the manpower needed to covert each title, and perhaps that represents too much of an investment to Microsoft? It seems unlikely!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a) the next update to be awesome (Panzar Dragoon, Outrun etc) and b) for more updates before christmas.
